Blood Lust (Extraordinary)
Vampires must occasionally feed on the blood of the living. Immediately
after declaring an Action with a Vampire, roll a d6: On a 2+ the Vampire
can carry out the Action as normal. On a 1, however, the Vampire must
feed on a Thrall team-mate or a spectator. The Vampire may continue
with his declared Action or if he had declared a Block Action, he may
take a Move Action instead. Either way, at the end of the declared
Action, but before actually passing, handing off, or scoring, the vampire
must feed
. If he is standing adjacent to one or more Thrall team-mates
(standing, prone or stunned), then choose one to bite and make an Injury
roll on the Thrall treating any casualty roll as Badly Hurt. The injury will
not cause a turnover unless the Thrall was holding the ball. Once the
Vampire has bitten a Thrall he may complete his Action. Failure to bite a
Thrall is a turnover and requires him to feed on a spectator – move the
Vampire to the reserves box if he was still on the pitch. If he was holding
the ball, it bounces from the square he occupied when he was removed
and he will not score a touchdown if he was in the opposing end zone.
A coach that suffers a turnover is not allowed to take any further
Actions that turn, and any Action being taken ends immediately
even if it was only partially completed.
Make armour and injury
rolls for players that were knocked down, and if the ball was
dropped then roll to see where it bounces to normally. Stunned
players should be turned face up, and then the opposing coach
may start to take his turn.
My highlights.

Picking up the ball isn't mentioned under bloodlust as happening before the actual pass etc, which to me means that you pick up the ball before biting. Under turnover, it's stated, that the players action ends eventhough it's just partially complete. To me, this means that the vamprie doesn't get to bite the thrall.

By the letter of the law therefore HG can be used when prone.
Can anybody give an example on how and when this tactic can be used? I mean, why would you leave a vampire on the ground intentionally instead of standing him up? You still have to roll for Bloodlust when perfoming an action, or is HG not considered an action by itself?

1/ your vampire is prone at start of the turn
2/ you declare a move
3/ you do not spent 3 mv to stand up
4/ you say it's end of the "move"
5/ you have the right to use HG at this point

could be usefull, if you don't want to risk to standup and to be pushed out of the field, or to be clawpombed, but if you want to annoy your opponent (if the player your gazed is the only left able to score, but for that this guy will have to receive a pass then to move... if gazed, you will have to move it 1st to be able to catch the pass, but this could make the pass more difficult for the thrower)

Biggest mistake I see against vamp teams? Caging up. Double screen rather than cage. A cage require one successful gaze to break into - well constructed screens require 2-3 and often at tournaments vampire coaches wont have enough vampires to break through and they're not fast enough to go around. Tie down thralls to restrict vampire movement - if a vampire wants to go somewhere he cant get a thrall to, going there is less appealing.
