Nobbla Blackwart certainly didn’t invent the chainsaw, nor was he the first player ever to use one, but he sure is the type of enthusiastic player every sport needs. Being truly devoted and completely mad, Nobbla understood it as his mission to be a chain agent for his beloved sport. At his prime, there was hardly a cabalvision post match interview that didn’t feature his hanging out tongue, self-inflicted scars and the black clouds of his rattling chainsaw when Nobbla tried to make it on the screen uninvited again. For many annoying years, Nobbla and his chainsaw Choppy saw it as their mission to popularize the chainsaw as an essential and entertaining part of the game. Considering what a racket he made, it’s amazing he made it that long. But as it is, many a rookie got his first and last introduction to the lethal side of Blood Bowl by a freaked out Nobbla, and many a veteran has long lasting memories about their time with him, like Rob B. Kinkle, former Lineman of the Nuln Gunners, “Yeah, playing with the old buddy always was a thrill. You really paid mind not to go down, cause if you did, he would come down on you. Oh, Nuffle, those were the days. Lost a leg to the old bugger! Wonder what he did with it?” There are many more accounts like this on the cabalvision documentary put together by the guild of “chainsaws and garden tools manufacturers” to honour Nobbla’s lifework, his achievements on the pitch and to celebrate the retirement of his old chainsaw Choppy (and presenting him with his new one: Rippy. “Keep up the good work Nobby!”).
One fact not so well known is that Nobbla loves being a gardener in his free-time and he’s extremely skilled at shaping bushes into figures. Although several citizens complained that his work tends to have a certain obscenity about it, and that he really should get a garden of his own. Well, what can you say, that Goblin is just nuts as hell.
