Hi all,

The next tournament in our Online NAF series will begin on Monday, August 17th, and we hope it will be our biggest and best event yet. Our ruleset will be based upon the greatest show of all, the NAF World Cup!

You’re in the right place on this subforum for all of your World Cup needs. It’s going to be HUGE. We hope to add to the build-up with a FUMBBL based WC showdown.

The online event will be fully Lucca themed, with physical prizes of WC pitches and miniatures to be won, and a team based tournament within a tournament on the side. Big thanks to the WC organisers for their support!

Full details for the event (via the rulespack) will be available from next Monday (3rd August) both here and across the usual channels, and you’ll be able to apply to the tournament on the 10th. Until then, please feel free to ask any questions below! Get YOUR World Cup started early by getting involved this August!

Rulespack Summary

• Non-progression Blood Bowl!
• Team treasury: 1.10 M gold
• Format: 6 games of Swiss in ~ 30-40 team groups formed according to timezone preference (Europe, America, Oceania), followed by a playoff. The size / number of groups will depend on applications
• Weekly rounds
• Skill package as close to the World Cup ‘Tier 1’ skill package as possible within the format
• Team based side tournament
• Physical World Cup prizes for the overall winner and two coaches selected at random

Cheers!

Phil / Goo.

(I hope this is OK in this section, it’s World Cup based and the Digital stuff doesn’t get quite the same footfall as the Tournament Postings)

Hey there. Since we're still in summer holidays zone - what would you say to coaches who wanted to participate but would be gone for an entire week during the event?

Hi there!

I'd be uncomfortable recommending a coach join us knowing one of his games won't be played. If you're going to be away for a whole week (Mon-Mon inclusive) with no means of playing, perhaps await our next event. If you can take a laptop with you, or you're travelling Thur-Thur (for example), you're probably OK to join us. :)

Hi all!

I've given the FUMBBL group page a good tune up, and you can now find our rulespack there, a third place!

Remember! If you're looking for a team, don't be shy. sign-up to our matchmaking thread. Let's be having some teams form over the weekend! :D

Hi gang,

You should find that the World Cup Warm Up team creation link is up and running, and applications for the tournament are open (a little sooner than scheduled)!

Coaches wishing to play in European timezones should apply here, North American timezones here, and Australasian timezones here. The tournament will kick off at 22:00 BB time next Monday, 17th August.

The WCWU features a team event, and if you need teammates, the matchmaking thread is for you. Got a team? Your captain needs to list it in the team scoring thread before go time.

I will be accepting applications every couple of evenings, so don't panic if you don't see your name in the group immediately. If you have the group link on your overview, all should be well, and you can expect to be accepted a maximum of 48 h from team submission.

Problems? Questions? Ask below!

I think it's going to be an awesome tournament with a heap of sweet loot to play for, so come on down and get stuck in! :D

All,

Not long to go now. Monday, at 22:00 server time, we beginning the World Cup Warm Up! Applications so far are healthy for this stage of the game, and we have 12 teams already signed up for the Team Challenge. Get yourself signed up NOW!

Remember: The World Cup Warm Up team creation link is the one you need to make those teams.

Coaches wishing to play in European timezones should apply here, North American timezones here, and Australasian timezones here. The tournament will kick off at 22:00 BB time next Monday, 17th August.

I realise that this is more spam on a familiar theme (apologies!), but this is my last rabble rousing, promise! Come join us, you know you want to! :D

On another note, the Online Dutch Open final will be played tonight / tomorrow morning at 01:00 server time (CET). This crept up on me so I have not been able to give it the full, fluffy breakdown, but happygrue's High Elves vs. Thot's Amazons will be a cracking encounter. Will traditional strength overcome the American upstarts? If you're online, this is one to tune into! With physical DO dice to play for, it's going to be tense! Enjoy. :)

Hi gang,

The WCWU is now moving into the third round, which represents 'day 2' of the big dance in Lucca.

It's not too late to come and spectate some great Blood Bowl! Check out the group page, where you'll be able to navigate between Europe, North America and Oceania, and maybe even see a scheduled, upcoming game that tickles your fancy. Check out a super script made by FUMBBL coach Wreckage, which tracks the teams in the Team Challenge as games are played.

Any FUMBBL hurdles to get over? Drop me a line, and I'll help you along.

Enjoy!

Hello all.

We have reached the end of the group stage of the World Cup Warm Up with the exciting playoff stage to come. Below is the PM sent to each participating coach. There is still time to join us and spectate some of these great looking games, if you want to know how, just ask. Cheers!

Hi all.

The World Cup Warm Up group stages are in the books!

It's been a great tournament. We had already set a high bar in terms of game completion, but this tournament has topped even our previous best. A huge thank you to everyone for your participation, and to the staff, Chavo, easilyamused, spubbbba and Pythrr that have helped admin. So. To business!

Individual Playoffs

Congratulations to our five group winners / other runner-up playoff qualifiers as well as our non qualifying runners-up:

North American Group: Sutherlands (Norse) / happygrue (Wood Elf)
Oceanic Group: bmilner (Undead) / Dunenzed (Human)
European Group 1: Joemanji (Undead) / gesize (Dark Elf)
European Group 2: fxiii (Wood Elf) / Zoul (Dark Elf)
European Group 3: PeteW (Dark Elf) / Straume (Necromantic)

Competition was as fierce as ever. Euro groups 1 & 2 were decided on opponent score tie-breakers, as was the North American runner-up (bad luck Azure and pizzamogul). The runner up in Euro group 3 was decided on racial tier (Candlejack, Endzone and KFoged narrowly missing out).

Team Challenge Playoffs

After 6 weeks of competition, four teams remain. Commiserations to Hellhound who lost out by a single point! The randomly drawn playoff semi-finals will be:

Team Fantastic v Joe le Taxi

Captain's game: JimmyFantastic (Und) v azzroag (Und)
Relezite (Nor) v Nathaniel-FR (DE)
Malmir (CD) v Bucks (WE)
Wreckage (Dwa) v Simon_MLF (Nor)
Endzone (Liz) v geggster (Liz)
PeteW (DE) v felix_le (Necro)

Waterbowl v NAF or How I...
Captain's game: Joemanji (Und) v happygrue (WE)
Leipziger_Waterbowl (Ska) v Lorebass (Nor)
Sizzler (Nor) v pizzamogul (Liz)
Lucifer (Dwa) v Azure (Und)
mubo (DE) v Kryten (HE)
Purplegoo (Liz) v Stimme (Underworld)

Stunty Cup

We can't forget the little ones! mrt1212's Ogres will face m0gw41's Halflings for the little big one.

All of the playoffs will be drawn and on the group pages shortly, you have all been contacted by separate PM. I hope you'll all be posting start times, I personally want to watch each and every game on there! :)

This PM has gotten awfully long, so I will address the final three points quickly. You will all no doubt remember that there are two prizes to be given at random for coaches that have completed all 6 games of the group stage. We'll be drawing those next week, so stay tuned. I'll also talk ore about 'what's next' next time. Lastly, I also wanted to talk a bit about the NAF World Cup, the reason we're here, but that went on for too long. Instead, since we didn't already have one, I made a thread. Please come join in there! :)

Until next week, thanks again, and good luck to everyone in the playoffs!

Phil / Goo.
