Despite a late entry, the Hampshire Superhogs will be in attendance once more. Boasting a squad where 50% of the coaches have double digit NAF numbers but, despite being around the NAF scene for over a decade, they still haven't figured out how to play properly.

Faced with losing the legendary Excitable Rob, when it turned out he wasn't excited about coming at all, new faces had to be brought in.

This year the squad is bolstered with a both a German-Hampshire and Dutch-Hampshire coach to bring some continental flair to the boys from the Shire!

We're going, Team Chaos (2nd world cup appearance), or the forlorn hope as I like to call us.

As it goes Team Chaos is the only team with the balls to field stunties, or am I wrong and there are other UK teams with prevously undiscovered balls?

Woodies
+ one undeclared but not a stunty.

I've been asked to send identity documents (passport scans) to the organisers 'for legal reasons'. Something to do with signing us up for the Ludolega Lucchese club.

We're a bit uncomfortable as to why this would be necessary. Some team members are very reluctant indeed to send documents like this to what is essentially an unknown source.

Anyone else struggling to get their heads round this one?

I'm not in the organization, but I can answer that.

You are not signing with the Ludolega Lucchese club.
You are signing with the Ludolega Lucchese World Cup club.
Which is a club that includes the people taking part of the WC and will be disbanded after the WC.

In Italy if all the people taking part of the event are part of a club, that's an "event not open to the public".
If not, it must be an "open to the public event".

Rules, burocracy and costs are VERY different from one to the other.
In a "event not open to the public" the organizers must have proof of the identity of who is in.
The WC would be simply too complicated and expensive if run as a "open to the public event".

The copy of the document is needed for the subscriptions to the temporary club.
That club and the documentation will be destroyed after the WC.
In Italy something like this often happens even at 1 day tourneys.
Burocracy in Italy is simply terrible. Sorry about that.

Anyway the need for the document copy was clearly stated in the page of the subscriptions.
"In addition, to confirm your subscription, the captain must also send a copy of the identity documents (front/back) of all players of their team, via email at info(at)luccini.it (in case of individual registration will be enough to send the your document)."

If you felt unconfortable about that you should have asked before.

Thanks for the explanation. We are sending photo id. so driving licence or passport (when we get our crap together.). Question is what counts as the back of a passport?

For alla I know the page with all the data and the one with the holder's signature are enough.

If both are in the same page all the better.

Do they require all the details?

Or can you black out certain info?

For example passport number?

Since this wouldn't be on a driving licence for example I don't see the need for it.

In this day and aget of being told to protect ure identity at all cost, this doesn't sit right.

What would be useful is a minimum requirement, ie an official document with a photo and signature but all the other data can removed

Anyone handling that information would be subject to the italian privacy law (which is very strict).

I think the info they need most is:
Name
Family Name
Date of Birth
Place of birth
Document Number
Plus the signature and photo

Because it is the info any club in Italy is required to hold about any member at all time.
The document is needed because they must be sure you are not giving false info (which would have legal consequences for both parts).
They are not risking someone giving false information and having trouble with police checks.
I fully understand that.

In Italy you will be required of giving your document for scanning in any hotel. It's the law.
I trust the organizers a lot more than a random guy working for a hotel.

As I told the club will be closed after the WC and the information destroyed according to the law.

For more info you may mail them or, if you go to the Naf Championship, ask them in person. Andrea Parrella will be there.

Has anyone thought to email the organisers with these questions? I've found them to very prompt in replying to my questions.
