I am going to Australia!!!

Post by KhorneliusPraxx »

True Story: My wife and I put 10 locations in a bag and I randomly selected Australia as the destination of our 2020 vacation.

This will make my fourth vacation in a row that will allow me to meet some other coaches and get some games in.
2017 - France
2018 - Wales
2019 - Austria
2020 - Australia

Question for you TFF members: What has been historically the biggest tournament in Australia? Exact location doesn't matter because I will go anywhere...from Tasmania to Christmas Island and all points in between.

If you are involved in a smaller Australian Tournament...sell it to me. Why should I go to it instead of just looking for the biggest one?

Without looking at historic numbers I'd guess the 5th Major, Eucalyptus Bowl. https://member.thenaf.net/index.php?mod ... ew&id=4959

TOs! You do not need multiple copies of rosters. It's a waste of paper.
Bribe level: good coffee.

Not sure how much of the Oz community uses TFF for tournament discussion nowadays, probably better asking on the Ausbowl forum (if it still exists?) or the Ausbowl facebook group: https://www.facebook.com/ausbowl/

Currently an ex-Blood Bowl coach, most likely to be found dying to Armoured Skeletons in the frozen ruins of Felstad, or bleeding into the arena sands of Rome or burning rubber for Mars' entertainment.

Ask at FUMBBL too. Compared to the other groups (on FUMBBL) SWL has a larger proportion of table top players. I played in SWL for a long time (as I live in Japan most of the year) and organising games very few of the players were not from the East coast time zone; predominantly from Newcastle/Sydney area (Newcastle seems to be (or seemed to be) a hotbed at the time).

It may be difficult for me to make it as early as April but I will try. I will look on the NAF site for others too for alternate options.

Three main events in Australia (at the moment) are:

- Eucbowl, in Sydney, 45-65 coaches. 18-19 April
- Southern Shrike Bowl, in Adelaide, 35-45 coaches. Usually in October.
- Big V, in Melbourne. Still a fairly new tournament, but this year had 38 coaches. Usually in November.

Plenty of other smaller events through the year, if you're in the right place at the right time.

If you want more info from Australian Blood Bowlers, suggest joining the Facebook group AusBowl and asking there.
