I have to admit I like the "black mark" idea. Don't know how you'd implement it but sometimes there's players which are a real pain to play and really hamper your enjoyment of the tournament and, frankly, they need a kicking.

It's like Norse pointed out, sportsmanship is all about making sure you opponent enjoys the game. Some players just don't get that. The WPS system has you rank on a strict 5 point scale (social scientists note, 1-5 is the best scale to rank how much you liked something) 5 being phenomenal and 1 being "if I ever have to play this player again I'll concede. Highest and lowest scores are ignored and referees have to ask each player about their 1 and 5 point scores.

It is prone to some higher scoring in BB but that's mostly due to the fact that BB matches are usually a lot more enjoyable and the people who play it are better sports. Simply give good examples of what each point should represent and make it clear that scores should be distributed around 3 points and it should work well.
