Ah! Reviving an old subject, I see this as a chance to prove an old point of mine that Swedish and Dutch languages are like peas and carrots -at least on the paper. Try and compare the spoken form and it will be a little harder

By the way, @campaigner: "svartalfer" would translate literally into "black elves". Svartalfer are the generalised archaic Swedish name for short-statured ill-tempered forest dwelling creatures (correct me if someone have a better term for it:)), which may be why Swedish RPGs' svartalfer look a lot like goblins. If you do a direct translation of the word it reminds you more of "dark elves", though. To add further confusion, the svartalfer of nordic mythology are meant to resemble dwarfs if I remember correctly.
