I might consider it for next year, as even the Eurobowl and World Cup have adopted it. The decision was made so that the rules would be as simple as possible - the NAFC is unique in that we get a large number of coaches who only play once a year, and also a fair number of younger coaches. I also felt that in a scene where tiers have become the norm, there is a place for 'vanilla' rules where a coach can test himself without help. After all, that is the point of the 'weaker' races, they were designed exactly to offer more of a challenge. All teams were deliberately not created equal. I remember two years ago when Geggster stormed to the high tables with Goblins, beating two Eurobowl captains and drawing with Podfrey's Dwarfs. That was made all the more entertaining by the lack of help. Finally, in my personal opinion I see absolutely no need for racial diversity. The more tier 1 races there are, the harder the tournament is to win and so the greater the value of claiming the trophy. I appreciate that most coaches who attend are not as competitively focused as me and place more emphasis on facing a variety of races. But the nature of Swiss inherently means as the tournament progresses everyone will be more likely to face an appropriate opponent. With that said, I appreciate that most people like variety and so yes tier bonuses will be considered for next year.

IMHO tier tournaments are by far too common, now.

I like variety in rulesets and having 2 tourneys out of 3 with tiers (often the very same tiers with the very same bonuses) is getting boring.
As it is boring to have most tournaments with 1.100 TV.

So if the ruleset should change I would like it to go back to 1.050k-1 skill before every match.
I'm a traditionalist and I was pretty upset when it did change.

Hi Rolex,

It was actually only 1.05 once (maybe twice). For all the years of under the Blood Bowl name it was 1 million flat. One skill per game for all that time yes. I appreciate tradition, and that was why we didn't change the rules immediately. But 1.1m and skills up front is less random and so again makes winning the event more of an achievement.

But yes, the prevalence of tiered events is exactly one of the reasons why it is nice for the NAFC not to have them. :) A change is as good as a rest.

In my humble opinion that set is too good for some teams (Undead, Wood, Lizzies).
"Less random" in a dice game sounds a bit weird.

If we all adopted a multi tier approach we'd all be the same, and that's a bit dull. I like that the BIG ONE is nice and simple.

I shall be paying for my ticket shortly. My only decision is to decide what team to take. Thinking of taking something other than humans this year

Moodygit (making his GT/NAFC debut at last) and myself are confirmed, but won't be paying until later.

Is anyone looking for a couple of roommates the Saturday night? Not being able to confirm until the last minute has meant that everywhere local is booked (unless we pay £100+ for one night :o ). If not, probably won't be able to stay to socialise as will have to travel to Derby.

Exciting news! We have two new coaches travelling over from Malta. A first for the NAFC (and possibly any BB tournament?).

(I will sort the flag when I get home. Do not panic).
