Discuss Fantasy football-style board games - GW's Blood Bowl, Impact!'s Elfball, Privateer Press' Grind, Heresy's Deathball, etc. THIS IS NOT AN NFL FANTASY FOOTBALL SITE!
I wouldn't bother with the Throwers at all, they don't really offer anything for the extra 20K. Since they don't have Sure Hands everyone on the team is equally bad at picking up the ball. If you stick to handoffs to get the ball up to your offense, Pass is a waste of money.
You gotta take the Blitzers! Give them all Piling On and you'll be able to dish out some beatings even to teams with good AV. Most of your opponents won't have Block either so you can get the number advantage pretty quickly with a bit of luck. You'll need the Apothecary for sure, and take as many RRs as possible, you'll need 'em for ball handling.
I was wondering about that and thinking it could be a nasty combo.....
Slight change to the current team. Now practising with
10 Linemen
1 Thrower
2 Catchers
1 Minotaur
2 Re-Rolls
1 Apothecary
1 FF
I've just got this thing for minotaurs, so I've decided sod the ogre! I do like one Thrower for a vain attempt at a passing game, but you are probably right about them not being worth it.
This has worked well in practice games (against myself!). Will be trying a swap losing two linemen and gaining one blitzer and 1ff. But I do like the 14 player + apoth. roster.
I think if I go for the 3rd re-roll I drop too many players.
Currently an ex-Blood Bowl coach, most likely to be found dying to Armoured Skeletons in the frozen ruins of Felstad, or bleeding into the arena sands of Rome or burning rubber for Mars' entertainment.
That's what I usually do; a Headsplitter means I will end up with 11 players - too few for Skaven. Hakflem is a bit superfluous sometimes .. and at other times an incredible asset. I still favour a basic team anyway.
3 x GR
2 x SV
1 x Th
7 x Line
2 RRs
FF 4

Never had that problem: thrower tends to play full back when he hasn't got the ball thus avoiding any big fights - besides you have 3 GRs who have AG4 who can pick up the ball.

Assuming you mean Rugby style Full back not American football Fullback (the latter being tanks on legs whose job is to take out guys in my position).
