From the NAF site:

Pippy on http://www.thenaf.net wrote:Hi everyone

The NAF are proud to announce that they will be taking over the running of Games Workshop's annual Blood Bowl tournament at Warhammer World.

It will be held on Saturday 7th and Sunday 8th May 2011 at Warhammer World, Nottingham, UK. This will be an entirely independently-run NAF event.

We are very excited about the prospect and hope to breath new life into this major annual fixture on the Blood Bowl tournament calendar.

We plan to provide:
*Excellent value for money
*Quality prizes and freebies
*Trophies to take home for the winners
*A tournament run by the community for the community

We hope to regain the positive aspects which have historically given the tournament a special place in the hearts of so many Blood Bowl fans.

Watch this space for more details!

Thanks
Brendan

Quick note on E-tickets:

We won't be able to send e-tickets for payments received after April 30th. We will endeavour to send a short confirmation email to payments received after that point. Tickets can be bought on the day of the event, but we cannot guarantee that the tournament will not have sold out by this time.

I think this is great news.
I've got so many questions I don't know where to start so I'll just ask a couple.
Will rule set change (team value, skills, etc)?
As it's no longer gw running the show will non gw figures now be allowed?
Will gw still be promoting it at all? I only ask this because no matter what you think of them their advertising (even when minimal) does bring in new players.
They're the immediate questions that spring to mind so I'll leave it there for now :)

They were tolerated at the White Isle Star Bowl this year, so I can't imagine why not. (This is a guess on my part).

And can we pick from 24 teams? Very excited, but at the same time concerned - if GW are giving up their one and only marquee event for Blood Bowl, where does this leave future support?

About where it is now I guess - between none and next-to-none.

Great news though - seems Lycos' and my badgering (plus others I guess) have finally worn them down. :D

I think I now know what my "Spring" Blood Bowl Tourney will be.

Superb news.

Andy Joyce was made redundant recently - I wonder if this is all an indication of GW giving up on events that require more them than people just to turn up and play?

Anyway - this news will mean that the event will sell out in record time. There will be at least ten guys wanting to go from my own club.

Great news. Looking forward to it already.

The NAF will show GW how a BB tournament should be run.

About time is all I can say.

This probably means I will make a return after I promised myself 'mever again' after the previous GW effort I attended.

Another question has sprung to mind so I may as well just ask
as this is now naf organised will every player now be required to be a naf member? And if so would non members be required to pay extra as at most tournies (as I could see some people not attending if this is the case and I think that would be a shame) or would naf membership be included in the ticket price for all attendees?
I'm only asking this as it's a little niggle of mine when I play at the gt against non naf players.

Nobody is ever forced to join the NAF. There are clearly "soft" measures to encourage membership, for example many tourneys charge £5 extra for non-NAF which pays for their fees. Don't know if the BB will use this, I expect it is still in discussion.
