I guess 'the balance' = 'the remainder'?

Do we know when the balance of the results will be up?

I joined the NAF a few months before the event and emailed them, so I can only hope me being missed is a short term thing :(

Very shortly. If not tonight, Saturday. You are one of 4 more. ArmyDave, Jayfizz, Genersis as well. It doesn't take hardly any time to physical get them in, it's getting it off the results sheet.

Please note the results were done by Pippy this year so pass your thanks to Bren not me. My input was more oversee and minor help, then small clear up like this. Minor stuff in comparison to the big picture.

Point of Order...

What exactly is the point behind the Penalty Point System?

GW state that they will penalise coaches with incorrect rosters but, wont make any adjustments until the end of the Tournament...
Then, when you view the results sheet, you see that they haven't even bothered to do this!

So, Where exactly is the incentive for coaches to be honest and to not 'accidentally' set their teams up using an old Rules Pack, which, in their ignorance, they didn't realise...?

& then they fail to realise their full error until well into their third match?

Coaches have plenty of opportunity to read & digest the Rules Pack and are directed to the Specialist Games section on the GW Website, where they can download the Competition Rules Pack in plenty of time before the start of the weekend.

This was my second GT; last year i turned up with my Necromantic Team, after not playing BB for well over 12 years & never having played with Necromantics before. I made one mistake with my Rosta, due to the GT being LRB5 & not incorporating the Rules Review which had reduced the price of Flesh Golems from 110K to 100K. Before my first match i double checked this with the Chief Judge & then, sacrificed my 2FF to reflect this.

So why am i having a gripe?

I played Richard Mortimer's 'Skeleton' Team in my third match: a nice jovial coach with a very good 'themed' skeleton team. Richard fessed up that he'd made a pigs ear of his team rosta, using the old 30K cost for skeletons & had originally included 2 Undead Star Players, The Count & a n other. I believe Richard won his first match quite convincingly but his original rosta was well over 1,100,000.

Penalty Adjustment -10 points.

as i said, Richard was my third match & we had a very close fought 1st half, with the Count doing his razzle dazzle moves to score an opening TD around T7 & utilising the 'dodge' skill, to good effect, on a couple of occassions.

around the start of the second half, one of the coaches on the adjacent table pointed out that the Count's skills had changed in CRP with dodge being replaced.
Not entirely happy to hear this news, I fouled and removed the Count from the Game by turn 3. I didn't know that the Count had changed, as with only TR100 to spend, i had no interest in looking at star players.

Richard had another joke about this & said he would have to go see the Chief Judge again, to get his rosta verififed, again.

Our game ended in a draw, as once the Count was removed, i was able to equalise.
After the match, i also reported this to one of the Judges who said that it would be taken into account.

so, according to GW BB GTs Rules, that was 3 Games played with an incorrect rosta & Richard's team should therefore be at a -30 points penalty.

Then the results are published & we both have the same results 3W/2D/1L & Richard is officially placed above me, with a -10 point deduction shown on the Results, not -30 & EVEN THE -10 PENALTY HAD NOT BEEN TAKEN INTO ACCOUNT!

I have nothing against Richard, as i said, great theme & one of the more enjoyable games of my weekend; my gripe is against the GW Referees, why publish a policy & then not implement it!!??

NB: there were several other players penalised on the results sheets Norse P25; Woodies P40; Skaven P74 etc which all suffered -10 penalties yet none of these was incorporated in the Official Results!

It certainly is not Rocket Science to incorporate the Penalty Points field into the GT Tournament calculations...

Nope, and they were informed on the day (when they released the incorrectly sorted results sheet), and again a few days later when they put the (correctly sorted) results up on the website.

As you can see, they took a lot of notice of that information.

I did ask why the points weren't penalised when they were spotted, and was told that "the draw should reflect the results of the games, and not of penalties". When I pointed out that some (not all) of those penalties helped people get wins/draws where otherwise they'd have draws/losses, there was just silence.
Not that it makes it any better, but supposedly they do exactly the same thing for their 40K and WFB tourneys as well.

In a way, I'd wished Geggster or Seb had had an incorrect roster that hadn't been spotted until round 6 - what would they have done then?

Khorne and Bretonnian? Sorry, those don't exist - bring a real roster.

thanks for the replies guys.

Darkson;

i agree totally, if i'd played Richard 1st, i would have been severely p*ssed off, especially as i think the result was 3-1 or something similar.

the only fair thing for the Chief Judge to do, would have been to call the match a draw or even award the win to the opponent; now that would have been a real penalty for fielding a team at least 100K over budget!

The rules wouldn't allow me to do that.
