So according to them GW dice roll a bit lower than normal and we should all use casino dice instead

But GW sells several sets of custom dice with various symbols replacing the 1's. So they can't have too much problem with them.

Of course some might point out that you roll so few normal dice in Bloodbowl compared to other games that the results would be statistically insignificant.

Maybe someone needs to test the blocking dice, after all they have different symbols on each face. Less material needs to be removed from a normal pow than a defender stumbles, maybe we shoudl insist on painted rather than engraved faces to avoid bias.

I can understand the GW mins only thing but with their lack of new mins its understandable people want to use other makes. It gets borring seeing the same mins in each team. Not everyone is good at converting mins, has the time to spend converting & painting, or the money to spend on extra 'bitz'. Hats off to Hobo Humin, he used the 1st ever BB figs and still got told he couldnt play! LoL

I dont see why we can use custem boards, its nice to play on a homemade board. Its not like GW are going to lose any money from this, if anything it stops their boards getting damaged. If they are saying no to home made boards what about home made dugouts?

Just to follow up on the intial question asked about D6's - that to my knowledge never got discussed.... hence why I didnt mention it.

I have to admit that even I (and I see a lot of different ones) have had trouble with some of the block dice and logo's so I accept that does have some validity IMO.

Re pitches: This is from legal. The guys I deal with and the ones we see each year at the event are not opposed to them. He seemed genuinely apologetic when he told me. It went something like
"Dave, I know this sounds petty to you, but legal have told me nothing other than GW boards. I saw some of the ones at the WC and I know they look great, but mate, we are being leant on from a great height and I have been told emphatically if we see boards that arent ours, it has to go. The best thing you can do is put the word out if you dont mind".

So.... I have. Now I admit its a shame....but it aint the end of the world and I certainly dont think its worth getting bent out of shape over it.

Glad this only happens in Nottingham ... the other GW locations holding majors have more sense to actually encourage the hobby rather than daily try to find the next way to stifle it some more.

If someone takes the time and the effort to make a lovely home-made pitch, then I would imagine showing it off to approx. 180 enthusiastic coaches would be quite fulfilling.

The dice I do agree with and fully understand.

I'm not even going to mention the models.

You know that's never going to happen because:

a) many of the "big" names in the community don't have the courage to take a stance against GW's appalling customer service (how long since a model release? banning custom pitches? £55 for a ticket? promising last year to increase value and then actually reducing it? etc)
b) GW would never want to lose face and are actually glad that they don't have to alter policy because of a)
c) the vast, vast majority of GW genuinely like the game and appreciate that it has a special place in their history. Unfortunately it gets treat like Warhammer and 40K and LotR because they don't appreciate what goes on in the BB community - and won't do so until attendances actually do drop

Me? Well I won't be buying a ticket this year. So that's 1 for a start. I will be there in the bar though to see friends and take part in <deleted until further notice>.

I can't blame people for wanting to attend what is the biggest BB tourney in the UK every year. The people that play the game are what makes it so enjoyable.

That being said the people making the decisions at GW appear so far removed from the hobby it's unbelievable.

They charge £55 for every GT they run. However for 40K and fantasy the top X amount of players from each heat get free entry into the final. Therefore they could get two whole weekends of gaming and food for £55. There are no heats for the BB GT so the price could be altered accordingly. They also run doubles tournaments for 40K and fantasy at a cost of £85 for the pair for the entire weekend, including food. That's £42.50 per person per weekend. So why do they not aim their price for the BB GT more towards that price, which obviously still allows them to make a profit?

I have enjoyed attending the last two years. But the GT suffers big time in comparison to every other tourney I've been to, (except Spikey '08, which was run like a GW tourney). When you see the effort individuals go to to make giveaways for their attendees,( like dice, models, custom dugouts etc.), it is quite embarrassing for GW. They should be setting the example for tourney organisers by being the most the most prestigious tourney running, (which is I'm sure how they view themselves, but not how everyone else views them), instead of having an air of negativity lingering about theirs.

It would be a shame for people not to attend purely because GW appear to not encourage people to come, through their pricing policy and lack of giveaways, especially when compared to other tourneys.

It is edible, yes, but then so are lots of things that shouldn't be served to people...

A couple of friends of mine attending the 'main system' GT's every year, ALWAYS complain no end about the canteen.

With regards the whole model situation, surely they could've made an ulfwerener model instead of their 54th version of Gimli?
