place to sleep

Post by Redfang »

Two young friendly specimens of the typical Dutch "Langharig Tuig" variant are looking for a really cheap place to sleep during the BB tournament this year (2004).

Does anybody here have a good suggestion?

Thanks,

Redfang (and Grotemuis)

Yeah, can a mod rename and make this sticky pls?
Can anyone who went last year post where they stayed and rough prices? I stayed with my brother last year so I'll need to find somewhere else this year....

Last year I (and others) stayed in the Travel Inn (Notttingham Centre South). It is about 10-15 mins walk away down the canal path and costs this year £52.95 per night. (Prices go up to this for dates booked after March).

Stayed at Travel Inn, (Nottingham South one). It's £50 per room per night, so not that cheap. Nice enough, breakfast not included, but there was coffee in room (and biscuits), plus there was coffee and doughnuts at GW last time. There's also a Mcdonalds 3 minutes walk away for that early morning cholesterol hit. The real advantage of it is it's an easy walk to GWHQ, and perhaps more importantly an easy walk back on the Saturday night when hammered. Although be warned, one route is right next to the canal...
To be honest I haven't found anywhere that's cheaper in as good a location, so will probably go there again. Biggest problem this year is there's three of us going. They only do double rooms, but have a double bed plus sofa bed so could sleep 3, but listed max occupancy is 2, so might have to put my mate in the holdall and smuggle him into the room...

I suggest 4 of you get together and book a family room for about £80. Should save loads. In fact it may be even cheaper

'family room' is meant to be 2 adults 2 kids though.
One of them is quite short, but we might be rumbled when he gets back at midnight stinking of beer... :o

family room: two of you have to pretend to be children then  only 2 adults per room allowed (no idea how much they enforce this).

Traveller, me and Marc are also booked at the Travel Inn Nottingham South:

Deal ... at least as long as I do not have to quote my old Football coach from Alabama ;-)

I've just booked the hotel for the french crew with Yohann, Trambi and the rest at the Clarence hotel (65 £ for the 3 nights per people) If you're interested :

You can't really walk by but i'd rather pay 4 £ divided by 4 of taxi than 150 £ Beside, the barman kept the bar opened for us to play with a beer at nights.
