Win all your 6 games 1-0 and someone can beat you by getting four 3-0 wins - even if they lose the other two 10-0. That's why this system is so badly flawed.

Check viewtopic.php?p=175052#175052 for a analysis of scoring methods.

Quick analysis regarding the BB2004:

Humans, Highelves, Skaven get a major boost.
Orcs and Dwarfs suffer.
Chaos Dwarfs and Undead remain untouched on top.

Please note that a scoring mechansim can not balance the results that are already in the base data. So you can't find a way to balance Chaos Dwarfs and Undead, just by tweaking the scoring mechanism.

after reading this thread, my guess for teams which show up is:
30% Halflings, 20% Skaven, 35% Elves(any of the 4), 10% Human and 5% of other

:P

Think the wps/pearly kings/britcon 32 point system is amongst the fairest.
Points for casualties, points for extra tds, and relatively balanced. Plus a large potential spread of points for placing.
The game scoring is secondary to the fact the sundry nonsense is worth 40%.
Supposing I get some NAF top 10 coach first round, and somehow scrape a draw with them, then for all that hard work I get the same number of points as if I get 50% on the quiz, or indeed 4 less points than if my team complies with WYSIWYG (guess I can't use that piece of cheese for an orc anymore) and has 'a clear and legible team sheet' - which given the fact I have a printer I reckon I can manage.

Time to calm myself down before writing to fanatic.

I know i come late, but....
I rise my voice against the "background" and the "Quiz".... What happend with the people who DONT speak English? So you can be the best player ONLY if you speak English??? Its not my case, but unfortunately, and everybody who went to the last BB, knows about how half of the Spanish Team was waiting for the translation (specialy with Jervis speach....)
This rules sounds like a joke to me...
No comment about scoring points by winning by 2 or 3 more.... What happend with the poor Dwarf? or teams that strugle to make one...????

Ok everybody with Halflings!!!!! (Goblins are permited?)

Dan Titan

And the worst thing is that at the end we get a "Lovely" and "Crap" (400 pounds valued ;)) Coin.... and just for 40 quid!!!!!

After so many tourneys... time to get some other things in this live...

I could live with the match points system, although I'd be considering Welfs / Helfs / Undead instead of my beloved Norse ..

The rest is crap

It's a BB (sports) championship, not a painting competition nor school!!

The guy (gal ??) with the most wins should be on top .. painting ansd the like should only matter a little bit. ..

Casualties should count for something. Even only a little something. This is Blood Bowl.

Furelli.

2pts per CAS caused would be my suggestion.

Hi guys,

I received my BB ticket and rulespack today, and the rules are as what is on the preview. As these packs are already done and sent, the chances of any changes now (at least major ones) are slim to none.

So, suck it up and get ready to use these rules boyyos !

The only thing I noticed in the rule packs that wasn't expressly covered in the preview is that while the scoring for painting/theme/WYSIWYG nonsense is done every game, it's the average of your scores that is used (assuming I've read it right). I don't think those points should be too hard to get so if you get one d*ck who decides to mark you stupidly low, just catch up with them in the bar later - 2 points for a cas?

The only concern I have remaining is the express mention of 'team emblems' as well as numbers. While some of my teams have insignia, some don't (because it would look rather stupid). I think we're relying on other people's common sense - which is normally something that fills me with dread. Just hoping I get as good opponents as I did last year.

Slinky,

From my experience with the 40K & WHFB GT's with this style scoring, it isn't a problem. At the end of the day the scoring for WYSIWYG, theme etc is done openly at the start of the game and both players want high scores in this. Being picky or an arse with an opponent would probably get him being picky back, and even the gits can figure this out!
