Combined use of the TEAM CREATOR & TEAM EDITOR

However you play online - Java, Vassal, Email, Cyanide etc - talk about it here.
This is also the place for discussing the various tools for managing leagues, teams and so on.

Combined use of the TEAM CREATOR & TEAM EDITOR

Post by Toby »

I startet a Java Blood Bowl "Ladder" with TOTAL newbie coaches. They don't know any rules and have trouble creating a team and updating their team rosters. Surprisingly, they all can play Java Blood Bowl quite well, using the default teams only.

Please read through this instructions. Maybe download the tools, and try it yourself. It is very important for me to know if everything is correct. From the testing I have done, it works.

1.TEAM CREATOR
-> Create a Blood Bowl Team using:
DEFAULT Team: "Email", "Wizard", "Logo", "Field" & "Color"
DEFAULT Players: "Pictures" & "#"
DEFAULT HTML: "Font", "'Other' SPP column", "MVP and EXP column"
-> Save as HTML: enter Team Name, click save

2.TEAM EDITOR
-> Open "TEAM NAME.HTM"
-> Remove all ";"
-> Change spelling of Bone Head & Throw Team Mate Skills
-> Rename all " kgp" to "000"
-> Save as "TEAM NAME.HTML"

3.JAVA BLOOD BOWL
-> Play Blood Bowl!

4.WINDOWS EXPLORER
-> Replace C:\JBB5.7d\Teams\TEAM NAME.HTML with C:\JBB5.7d\Results\TEAM NAME.HTML

5.TEAM EDITOR
-> Open "TEAM NAME.HTML"
-> Update your Match Record
-> Roll your Starplayer & Ageing Rolls
-> Update your Player's Skills, Traits & Characteristics
-> Retire Players and add Assistant Coaches
-> Remove dead or retired Players
-> Remove freebooted Wizards and Players
-> Correct Re-Rolls Cost
-> Buy Players, Team Rerolls, Assistant Coaches, Cheerleaders, Apothecary
-> Hire new freebooted Players, Wizards & Star Players.
-> Recalculate your Total Cost of Team
-> Recalculate your Team Rating

Thanks Toby.

That's tells me what Ronald and I need to do to get the HTML creator to work with JavaBowl. I'll add it to the list.

Nope ... I'm very low tech ... has to do with the company computer that I use that kinda screws up most non-authorized software.

And by list I mean that I have 8 bugs to fix in version 2.4b Beta of the PBeM tool and some improvements to make to the HTML creator also.

the most annoying thin is the re-rolls.

it resets to x50 for every roster every time.

do you have an idea if SKi is going to implement further update team roster features ? This is really really a problem.

I cant simply say "here everybody here is the program to create and update your teams". People in my group play the default teams all the time....

the skills problem is easily fixed by updating the team.ini
Names should be limited to 19 letters to be visible in JBB.
I spent 2 nights on this, i feel like an expert ;)

Sorry don't play JavaBowl. The two things you just mentioned updating HTMLs and name lengths are not problems in the PBeM tool because the game itself fully updates the HTML at the end of the game for all game effects and the program has a name length check that shrinks the font for the name display if it exceeds X characters. So I don't know. Since FUMBBL is so successful though ... I cannot image that the updating rosters thing is a big deal ... I'm sure Grumble or such have a simple answer to all of this.

well all the match data is stored in a .xml file which both coaches upload and the whole system on fumbbl is automated

before the current system christer did it all by hand using his league manager software, I do believe that one of the coaches has modified it but i don't know what changes he made, maybe you could go and post on the fumbbl forum and he might see it
