Re: The ROSE BOWL - 27th April 2013
Was talking about this with a few guys at the MonkeyBowl this weekend. Just wondered if you'd got any further details on the timing of the event?
Four games in exactly eight hours will require very strict time keeping to fit everything in. Will you be expecting to call games after a certain time limit, or is there some flexibility with start/end times?
Not sure how much experience you have of running Bloodbowl tournaments so apologies if I'm teaching Granny to suck eggs, but normally with the registration, round draws, prize giving and a bit of a break between rounds there is usually at least two and a half hours allocated to each round? I'm fine playing quick but if rounds are going to be called its worth deciding your policy before the event starts and making it public knowledge.
Oh, and who can I PayPal my entry fee to?

Re: The ROSE BOWL - 27th April 2013
This sounds fun! I actually have the rose bowl trophy from 6 years ago! If I can make this Ill bring it, if only for nostalgia!
I have some thoughts on your ruleset though, which echo Don vito's
8 hours is too little time for 4 rounds of bb. This definitely needs to be amended to 3. Otherwise there will be no time for food, toilet breaks, or prize giving.
On the other hand, a game of dreadball takes, in my experience, 20 mins to an hour. These guys will have a load of waiting around to do. I'd be tempted to make the dreadball half of the event 6 or 7 games.
Please take this feedback in the spirit it is intended, which is to help make the event fun and successful. Good luck and I hope to be there!

Hi guys,
Unless your swearing at me i'll always take it as helpful. I have ran leagues and some tournaments however none on one day with only 8 hours and running two game systems at once.
If i remember rightly the old Rose Bowl ran for 8 hours and had hour and half games. Nippy am i just been old here?
Don_Vito if your not on the FB group i'll PM you the details later today.
As for the DreadBall might up them to 5 games as i think most of the guys playing that are new and will need some extra time to play. Plus if they finish early then they can get to go home if they wish.

Re: The ROSE BOWL - 27th April 2013
It's up to you how you run it but as mentioned be very clear before the start of the rounds what the state of play is of expect complaints. As long as you are clear at the beginning of the tourney things should be fine. Honestly, an hour and a half is fine for some people to play a game (about average for me as I'm a fairly quick player), but 'normally' tournament rounds take up to two hours usually, with some games running to two and a half hours.
The options I guess are...
- Give a hard time limit of an hour and a half, maybe using chess style clocks (free to download on smartphones) to keep turns sharp. Call games regardless of what turn it is at that mark.
- Give a hard time limit, but be flexible if people have only a turn or two left each, possibly overrunning.
- Call at the hour mark and working out the remaining turns left introduce a times turn limit to force the game to conclusion.
- Drop to three games or start earlier so we have extra time to get four in?
Really someone's not going to be happy if games get called early. Just want to give you the heads up so you can have a think about the best solution for you. Bloodbowl is massively about clock management, so telling a Dwarf player he only has four turns in the second half is going to scupper him. Shoot me a PM if you want any further input.
Cheers!

Hi Flick, could you pm me with payment details too?
Can I confirm there is 1,000,000 gold crowns available to pick your team and no other restrictions e.g. on inducements / stars etc.? Seems clear but just wanted to check. Quite fun to go back to the days of TR100 rosters - been a long time since I've played a tourney like that

Re: The ROSE BOWL - 27th April 2013
It's a starting team with NO star players.
Its resurrection style, with no SPP gains. After first game one player get 1 skill (must be a new player for each skill). By the end of game 3, 3 players will have an upgrade.
I'm till thinking 4 games at hour and half ATM.
PM will be sent with payment detail shortly.
