I think it's close between Manj, Mumbo and Stick at the moment. Hate them all...

Rob.. Not sure if you remembered to remove the last three results you have with your team since I was playing them (non NAF)

Good tourney though and tbh, stuff ranking, it's for the egos :)

I'm definitely going to this next year. Hopefully with a contingent from Terra Nova Club.

Well done Fraser too for the podium finish!

i guess nobody's picked up a board that wasn't theirs by mistake, hopefully it'll turn up soon though as i'm running out of boards to lose at tournaments...

Nothing wrong wit a UK champion being diverse enough to win under conditions that involve random goblins and woodies wth mutations :)

IIRC Stick played the Goblin game and lost, and still finished 2nd to improve his UK Championship score.

For next year. This is my feeling so far:
-Same ruleset with the possibility of mutations depending on whether i can get a skillset that fits.
-Auld Firm Match (2 Halfling Teams, The Cabbages -vs- The Jam Tarts)
Trailer Park Trash
WAG's Tourney (Depending on numbers.)
BBQ
Homebrew

NO NAF SANCTIONING. (Lets see who comes and who doesn't)

No, this is not reactionary Geoff. I enjoy hosting a tournament that is more of a social event where we can all laugh and have fun with some silly boardgames inbetween. If that is gonna be spoilt by some people seeing the Albabowl as a chump tourney and possibly an easy win and quick NAF points then sod it. I'll remove that factor for the tourney so it is no longer a distraction and an upset. If that means that said people decide not to come, so be it. I'll lose no sleep over it, as i will know that even if there are reduced numbers, all of the people who are there want to be there for the social event. I put a Duck load of work into this tourney. It takes me pretty much all year to prepare everything, and it upsets me when people get too serious and take the fun out of it.

So:
If you want fun, come to Albabowl
If you want NAF points, go to England.

If you want fun and NAF points, come to the Waterbowl in Manchester next February (date tbc soon!)

Back on topic, you make a good point, Rob. You do notice that some players become a bit more relaxed when there are not rankings at stake. This also means there is a bit more slack when it comes to innovative round tweaking, perhaps?

NAF or no, Albabowl is on my list to try in 2010 :)

Rob, I'll be there whether you have it sanctioned or not, though I'd like to see it sanctioned (it's nice to see a long term effect, but it's not crucial).

I've already described it as "beer, food and messing about, punctuated by 6 games of BB" - as opposed to other events which are "6 games of BB, punctuated by beer, food and messing about"
