I'll second that.

I have work connections in Canada which makes this a possible jolly...

Cheers guys,

Sorry, just reading this now.

GW Canada only gave us the nod for hosting the Spike 2008 10 weeks prior so that was the only reason for the delay in notice. We would have liked to have been informed sooner, and I campaigned for Vancouver to host it shortly after we participated in the Spike 2007 in Calgary, but GW Canada was going through a Community Manager change at the time and it was only when this was finalized and a new Manager was chosen that we finally got the nod.

We are currently waiting for a reply from GW Canada to see if we're hosting the Spike 2009. When we know more we'll post it immediately.

We would like nothing more than to see Europeans participate in the Spike 2009. So long as they give us the nod, we'd like to host it every year if we can. I'll keep you posted.

Gj.

I'd be interested in coming down from Alaska for Spike-09 if it is in Vancouver.

Well, it is. Aug 1-2 in Surrey, at the Compass Point Inn. There are some details to be worked out, including the price (which will be determined in part by the item we give away to all participants). But the date and game details are fixed; 7 rounds swiss, 20K in skill upgrades each game, just like last year. There will be aite advertising it, www.spike2009.com, any day now.
