Don't :)

If you're new to the game, go with Humans or Orcs to start with. Both are easy to learn and have a good variety. Goblins are a hard team to play,so best avoid them until later.

Ithilkir is damn right!

You would be shocked how hard it will be to play with them - especially how hard it will be to win!
So for your own happiness you shouldn't start with them.
But you can start playing Orcs. They may use Gobbos, so you can test them without being dependent on them.
I like Gobbos very much too. So I have one in my team and all my support-stuff consists of Gobbos, like cheerleaders, the waterboy and the medicine team *g*
Try to start this way.

Gobbos are almost impossible to win with. Stay clear! :o As the guys have said, the best teams for newbies are Humans and Orcs, in that order. If you try to start out with gobbos you will get fed up with BB very quickly!

Good luck!

I recently started with a goblin team.
It consisted of 3 squigs, Scrappa Sorehead, Morg 'n Thorg and about 8 goblins. Plus 3 re-rolls. And I bought Fungus the Loon after my first match.

I probably won't win very often, but it's worth it just to see the look on the opposing coach's face when all those squigs and fanatic wander around the pitch at random. :)
And with Morg's TTM and AG 3 you might get the odd goblin in the end-zone. And Scrappa's potential MA of 10 can also be useful.

I lost my first match against the high elves, 2-1. I got overzealous after my 1-0 lead.... :D

I take it you're using house rules?

Hmm i am very new within this game, so please can you answer me some questions to the following quote... =D

>I recently started with a goblin team.
It consisted of 3 squigs, Scrappa Sorehead, Morg 'n Thorg and about 8 goblins. Plus 3 re-rolls. And I bought Fungus the Loon after my first match. <

I only bought the starting-game ... but in the rulebook there is no mention of squigs ...
And Starplayers can only be hired for one game (League) ...
So the Team in the quote is not affordable in my opinion =D

Or are there some new rules in the annual?

Sorry but i am very confused ...

P.S. Sorry for my bad english but i am german ^^

The squigs mentioned are house rules. Ignore that part. The annual will have up to date rules, including some secret weapon rules so you can include some players LIKE those stars...and stars CAN be freebooted if your league allows it.

I'd still go for Orcs if I were you...they're pretty forgiving being so tough.

According to the standard-rulebook i made the follwing team for playing in a league:

13 Goobos
1 Nobbla
1 Ogre
1 Troll
Fan Factor 6
2 Re-Roll

Is it ok?

Ok, firstly, the Goblin roster will lose access to Ogre players in the upcoming Rules review, so change it to a 2nd troll.
Secondy, what rules is your league using for Star Players? If you're using the standard LRB/Handbook rules, a star can only be freebooted, which means you gt him for 1/2 cost (40k) for one game, after which, you'd need to freeboot him again.

If you're determined to go Goblin, you'll need a higher FF, to make money to replace the gobbos you will lose.

I'd suggest:

2 Trolls (100k x 2)
12 Goblins (40k x 12)
Nobbla (if you really want him, else take another gobbo) (40k)
3 RR (60k x 3)
9 FF (9 x 10k)
10k in the bank.

Classic Goboo starting roster:

2 Trolls
12 Goblins
4 Re-rolls
FF 8

But don't use them as a newbie. Use Orcs or Humans. :D

Good luck!

Believe me, the 4 re-rolls are totally necessary. And too expensive (at 120K a pop) to buy once the league has started. I would never, ever use money from my starting mil on freebooting a star. Get him after the next game.

If you are playing a one-off game though, Nobbla will cost 80K rather than 40K. Other than that - Bomba is fun, Scrappa the most reliable, Fungus just plain useless.

Have fun!

Think it is not so bad to get one reroll more and therefore feeboot Nobbla after the first game and get a fanfactor of 8 when starting ..... we will see =D
