Hello from Aldershot

Hello everyone!

I'm Andy from Aldershot. I've just started getting back into Blood Bowl big time recently, mostly by running a league at my local game shop. It has to be my favourite game around I'd say.

I've been blogging about it a bit here: Powerarmouredbeard.com

I've been listening to a few BB podcasts over the last month or so, and thought that I should really see what the online community is like. I'm also thinking about taking part in a couple of UK tournaments this year.

I own more teams than I'm ever likely to use, and keep wanting to buy more! You could say I'm a BB addict.

Welcome! Where abouts is your shop, what night does the league run? Sorry for all the questions, I'm in Church Crookham so this is great news for me as most leagues need a 40 mile round trip.

I would also be keen for some more info as I have been out of a league for a while. How many players do you have and how often do you play?

Cheers guys,

The shop is called The Games Shop and its in Aldershot town centre. The league runs most Wednesday and Sunday evenings. I should have room for another team, maybe more. I run the league using fixtures, so I draw teams against each other at the start of each round and it lasts till everyone has played everyone else once.

Its a real friendly club which mostly plays 40k at the moment, but Blood Bowl has been a real hit. If interest persists I'll keep the whole things going. Give me a PM if you want more info.

I'm also thinking about forming a Blood Bowl team from the club for UK tournaments, and may even stage my own in the future.

People start turning up at the club from about 6pm generally. Tomorrow, I'll probably be there with all the Blood Bowl stuff from about 7.15ish I reckon?

That's Woody and Longfang's neck of the woods. Wonder if they know or are already involved?

Don't recall the names I'm afraid. Seems like there is a lot more Blood Bowl players in the area than I had thought!

Maybe I can look to grow the league in the future.

Hahaha! And to think I used to be *relatively* famous (in BB circles, at least!) :) Might pop in and say hello, although I'm semi-retired from BB.
Do you call IPs, have 4 min turns or any other of that beardy shite?

We do call IP's in league situations. Generally the rule of thumb is if the player is new to Blood Bowl they have a grace period to get used to it, but generally people are quite good and pick it up quickly.

We don't do 4min rounds. Most of the guys don't take that long anyway. Although sometimes I wish we would as we have a couple of players that take ages, mean I generally have to stay later.

You should pop in sometime. Be nice to expand the local Blood Bowl community.

I actually remember, years ago when I signed up to NAF for the first time (Purple dice if anyone can date from that?) the guy that sent the dice out to me was actually from Aldershot himself. Small world.

Funnily enough, I remember sending them. Would have been 2004 or early 2005 I think.
