I personally think that moderators abuse the sticky subjects....
I would prefer, if it would only be used for a certain time period or for specific kind off posts......

The whole board could do with a clean up. We need an archive area to keep the topics areas free from old posts being dragged. If this was indexed it would even prevent Newbies posting questions which have already been well discussed, maybe?

Can we unstick the painting competition thread? It hasn't been posted to in months.

Me was thinking of tournaments which get Sticky.
Unfair :(

Kinda useful having the tournament threads stuck. Makes sure you dont' have to dig through 6 or 7 posts all about the same thing (had that problem with Amsterdam)

Besides, anything that attracts more victi^H^H^H^H^Hcompetition to tournaments has to be a good thing.

Indeed, but moderators can get their tournament proposals get sticky, while other proposals start sinking out of view. Although it is handy to have them be sticky, if that only happens to some, then it's unfair.....

Good point.

Any chance of having all upcoming tournaments in the tournaments thread stuck, then unstuck once the tournament has finished. Would make it easy to eyeball what tournaments are coming up.

If tournament organisers would always show the date of the tournament in the subject, we'd be away.

Listen guys its not unfairness.

Just PM either DW or myself if you have an tournament posting and we'll convert it to Sticky for you ... I have zero problem with this.

Either do all, or do none......
I never new what sticky meant in the beginning. I thought it was a debate which got sticky (nasty???) or something, later I figured out that moderators made these things sticky.
I understand the necessity to make things sticky, but since more tournaments seem to be organised, I would prefer a tournament section where only the organisers post their tournament, and a tournament discussion forum. This would clear more things up.....
If we don't, make my tournament sticky :D

Just to add my two penneth, well, its probably more like fifty penneth.

In the Tournaments forum, only upcoming tournaments should be posted as 'Sticky'. Once that tournament has passed it should be converted to a normal thread (as already suggested in this thread).

Moderators can change topics to 'sticky', so simply PM any moderator (you can see a list of moderators via the 'Usergroups' menu option) and they will convert your thread to 'sticky' and switch it back on completion.

I do not agree with any moderator that posts any article as sticky simply because they can. This I would consider an abuse of privileges. However, if those posts have been for an upcoming tournament in the correct forum, especially at a members request, then I see no wrong. The tournaments forum is designed for this very purpose and new tournaments need that status for publicity. So, for the final time, ask a moderator to 'sticky' your upcoming tournament if you want it publicised.

Lucy: Unstuck the Spiky thread, and 'stuck' the Dutch Open thread.
I think it's handy to see upcoming tournies at a glance!

Thanks mate......

If I have other comments about anything, I'll first ask one of the Mod's before commenting. I need to get better informed about certain things. Me ignorant and s-l-o-w in comprehension.....
