Most importantly, develop a sense of humor and a thick skin!

There is a thread in leagues about suggestions for best starting team builds.... Fumbbl.com also has a series on builds and tactics, as well as skill selections, by team.... Others will chirp in soon with good advice....

Some basics that all(?) agree on:
Move a thrall to where you want your vamp(s) to go....
Thralls are nice to advance, whereas vamps are necessary....
Blodge the vamps first, then specialize....

Welcome to the Blood Brotherhood....

Best advice....

Shelf the vampires and start with either Orcs or Undead.

If you're brand new to the game I second what burgun said.

Currently an ex-Blood Bowl coach, most likely to be found dying to Armoured Skeletons in the frozen ruins of Felstad, or bleeding into the arena sands of Rome or burning rubber for Mars' entertainment.

be prepared to......be very frustrated. alot.....

as a relatively new player myself.....this game can make you want to flip all the tables.

Also third-ed on the don't play vampires yet. Humans or orcs first...to learn the game.

Vamps look to good to be true ....actually they are good but can be tamed only by the few.....be prepared to lose more than you win until you tame them

Play whatever you want... just expect to lose a lot.
At least if you can master the basics with vampires, then picking up a different team later on should be a lot easier!

Hey Reece,

Worth stating that Reece is in my league and has already won a game (lost one too)

I tired to suggest a different team but his heart is dead/cold and he likes to graze on necks so nothing I could say would sway him

He started with only 4 vamps and 4 re rolls. And so far has been doing well. Especially as the halfling coach stole 3 in the game he won...

His use of hypno gaze to advance his cage was great, so more detailed strategies would help him as would skill progression advice. 3 vamps skilled already (2 block, 1 dodge.) and a fourth on 5spps so I think he is off to a great start

I like how you state that he's already won a match and then casually insert later that it was against flings.

Yeah but he beat them 4-0 without rerolls, the halflings caused a casualty in their first turn and then he used his only one in the first turn and then played lights out...

I was impressed as our halfling coach is pretty good

Welcome! :D

I'd suggest you read this thread: viewtopic.php?f=25&t=40634

and ask questions in the same one, that part of the forum is more suited to answer your questions than this.

Good luck!
