new to cyanide version (but vet TT player)

Be it FUMBBL, PBeM, the Cyanide Computer Game, VASSAL or whatever - talk about online play here.

This is also the place for discussing the various tools for managing leagues, teams and so on.

new to cyanide version (but vet TT player)

Post by celticgriffon »

Hi everyone,

A few years ago I had tried both the Nintendo DS and the PC game. I found it confusing and somewhat frustrating. I have hardly played any PC video games over the past five years. Magic online would be the only exception.

A few days ago I decided to give my Cyanide version another run. I believe I currently own the Dark Elf Edition. I am hoping to get more reps in to practise for our upcoming league season.

A few questions:
1) can you throw to an empty square
2) can you easily view the rosters for both teams during the match
3) how can you easily tell if a player is prone or stunned?
4) can i play someone online if they have the xbox edition or do we both need the same versions of the game?
5) Is there a manual or cheat sheet for the PC shortcuts?
6) Would it be worth my while to download the Chaos edition of BB1 or should i just download BB2?

Cheers,
Michael

1. Iirc yes.
2. Iirc yes.
3. Yes.
4. There is no cross-compatibility between any versions on the various formats, old or new.
5. There was, but I honestly can't recall where. It might be on the Cyanide forum.
6. Depends on what race(s) you want to play. If you're happy with the 8 or 9 races in BB2 (and the DLC that might mean more races) then take BB2 as at least it's currently supported. If you want more races now take BB:CE or LE.

Dark Elf edition no longer has online capability, expect on direct IP.

I would dip into CE, it's very cheap and has all the races. Find a good league and join up.

My apologies.. I should have been more clear:

A few questions:
1) can you throw to an empty square - it doesn't seem to let me... how would i do this?
2) can you easily view the rosters for both teams during the match - again how do i do this?

Cheers,
Michael

Hold down ALT and click on the square you are trying to pass to.

I have no idea how to view the rosters mid-game. Don't think it's possible.

1. I know you can, as I have done it (and got accused of "cheating" by my opponent, who had no real idea of tactics  ) but it's been so long since I played it I can't remember how to, so try the way Moraiwe suggested.
2. Sorry, misread your question (I thought you said before the game). No you can't, in any version.
3. Misread that as well - prone are just lying on the ground, stunned have stars running around them (think old cartoons).
