Human Catcher Skill Choice...
My Team:
4 Blitzers (one w/ Guard)
2 Throwers (one w/ Dodge)
1 Catcher (w/ Block)
3 Lineman
3 Rerolls
9 FF
1 Apothecary
1 Catcher (in question)
I play in a fairly bashy league (2 Chaos, 1 CD, 2 Ork, 2 Undead, 1 Ogre, 1 Dwarf, 1 Woodie, 1 High Elf, and Me (Human of course).
I have a another Catcher with double fives. I was wondering if I should feel the nned for speed or use the doubles. If doubles, what for?

sean newboy seems to be advocating a 1 turn TD player, but for a human catcher you would require another +1MA anyway.
I would suggest Nerves-of-Steel as it is an awesome skill for setting up an easier two turn score for your catcher. You do not need to clear the tackle zones off the payer before passing to him. Get him the ball the dodge clear and score.
I had two human catchers with this skill before it became a trait and would probably use any double rolls to get it now when I take humans again.

Just being closer to the 1 turn score helps, especially on a Quick Snap. Not to mention every point of movement is an insurance policy for manuevering on the second turn.

Nerves of Steel is very tempting, as he'd become an instant threat on all offensive plays. On the other hand, scoring with humans is not too difficult. Where they really need help is defence, and a key to my human's success has been Dauntless. Also, you don't have a big guy yet, so stopping the 8 bashing teams in your league is probably difficult. By now you've probably played 5 or 6 games with them. If scoring's been a problem, go offensive. If defense has been difficult, pick Dauntless.

Re: BTW
Glad that it worked out for you.wulfgar61 wrote:I went with Dauntless. It has payed of smashingly so far. No casualties, but my Human Catcher has spent the last two games whooping up on Bull Centaurs and Ogres. 5 KOs so far.
