Feeling a little long in the tooth this weekend, so fielded a vampire side (100k overdog) against the professor's non Guardian Khemri.... Prof is always challenging the paradigm of what is successful... and took a bribe for his SG skellie)....

My team:
Necropolis Nighthawks
8 rookie thralls
1 thrall with Ag4
1 vamp with block
1 vamp with +Mv
6 rerolls
2 ff
1 apothecary

The ineptitude of my vamps was only matched by the unforgivingness of the kickoff table to my opponent.... Thrown rock, defensive reset really hurt him... as well as armor breaks not coming against my thralls (his SG's first two fouls were doubles, yet the refs were merely amused....)

On the toothy side, I attempted three Ag4 to Ag4 passes in the game and only the thrall gained a completion.... Bloody vamps each thought it hilarious to pump fake and spike the ball.... :pissed: One would have been an easy TD.... :pissed: :pissed:

Did manage three casualties on the day (all regenned), one by my block vamp, and the lone TD by the other vamp would carry the day....

The team's performance stunk, but the future smells rosy: both vamps gained dodge, five thralls sit at five spp, and the Ag thrall is at eleven.... Also bought a rookie vamp....

I'm 10-2-0 in the last twelve... the dead heads continue to roll :D

After starting the season with two losses and a tie, the Rollers are... well... rolling. They've rattled off four straight wins by a combined score of 10-0, beating Lizards, Norse, Humans, and most recently, a pretty well developed Orc team. My season ends on Friday after a date against some fairly new Skaven.

It seems every time I raise a zombie and release it to get me back down to 13 bodies, someone goes and kills a zed in the next game. :)

Ghouls finally started carrying their weight. One broke out for an 8 SPP game against the Humans (2TD, 1Cas)... the same game a Wolf went nuts for 9 (1TD, 2Cas, and the dreaded INT).

Golem - Block (9)
Golem - ST+ (8)
Wolf - Block/Dodge/Sidestep (37)
Wolf - Block/Dodge (21)
Wight - AG+/MV+ (29)
Wight - Guard/MiB (24)
Ghoul - Wrestle (15)
Ghoul - Block (14)
Zombie - Kick (7)
Zombie - Block (12)
Zobgob (5)
Zombie (0)
Zomlebrity (0)

3 RR
13 FF
250k in reserve.

Unless something crazy happens, I'll likely finish the season in third, and make the playoffs.

Zombified Hobgoblin would be my guess.

Correct. Gashgrut was formerly employed by a Chorf squad. The Zomlebrity was a Human lineman named Adam Baldwin. :)

Last game was another shutout. 2-0 vs. Skaven. Could have been 3-0 if not for my AG4 Wight developing a case of the dropsies at the end of the game.

No SPP for casualties in this game... for either side. I did surf a bunch of his rats. The crowd dealt out an MNG on a linerat, and the turf slapped a serious injury on a rookie GR as the result of a failed dodge (-ST, which his doc "cured" to -AG)

Still managed to get three skills out of this game... Guard for the +AG/+MV Wight, Surehands for the Blodge Ghoul, and a lucky double got Guard on a Block Zed.

Playoffs will not likely be for another month. Our base of operations has closed the game space while they rearrange the shop. Won't be able to play there until they re-open it in a few weeks. I'm not a mathematical lock for the playoffs, but it's looking pretty good I'll be the third seed when all's said and done. Other likely playoff teams include the Humans and the Khemri that I've lost to this season, then probably either the Skaven or Lizard team.

In 8 games, 5W-2L-1D, 16 TDs for, 6 TDs against, 16 Casualties for, 9 Casualties against. Not too shabby.

Time to ressurect this thread :orc:

In the past year, my choice of minis continues to evolve.... For Necros:

01 First edition citadel zombie
02 Third ed citadel zombie 1
03 Third ed citadel zombie 2
04 Third ed citadel zombified skeleton 1
05 Third ed citadel zombified skeleton 2
09 B7 Gary the ghoul
10 Wicked Bowl I "Squeletor" ghoul
11 Skeletalized second ed Grigolson Chaos all star wight
12 Skeletalized second ed Alien Chaos all star wight
13 B7 Funk-n-stein flesh golem
14 Fifth edition citadel flesh golem
15 Hippie Bowl "Flopsy" the ghoulf werewolf
16 Hippie Bowl "Flopsy" the ghoulf werewolf (modified pose)

To expand the Necronomicon, what defensive setup would you use when kicking to an elven team?

Digging through the threads, found an 'anti-elf' defense:

++++++
***++++++
+++++++++++++++
+
**+*+++++*+**+
+++++*+++*+++++

The immediate question is the placement of players .... In a full positional, no kick, defense this begs you to put Larry, Moe, and Curly (zombies) on the LOS with Flesh Golems on row 3, positions 2&14 (counting from left to right) to channel receivers to the middle.... What about the wolves, wights, and ghouls? Row 4 (pos. 6&10) are relatively protected and I'm thinking the ghouls belong there. Wolves next to the golems with wights in the middle?

I've never actually thought about it that way (new player, still learning)!

May skip Block in favour of Wrestle for sacrificial linemen from hereon.

What would be the pluses and minuses of spreading the zeds in a 6-8-10, or even 5-8-11 on the LOS?

It depends … if you have block, you stay up. Whereas, if you have wrestle, your mental gears start grinding: Is it your offensive turn? Must your turn continue? Will the positional hole create a problem for you (or him)? Do you really want his turn to continue? Can you stop his blitz? Will you, can you, sack the ball carrier?

I'm still experimenting…

In rereading deeper, the following were suggested vs elves (and I assume other agility/avoidance teams):

'anti-elf' defense:

++++++
zzz++++++
+++++++++++++++
+
fw+t+++++t+wf+
+++++g+++g+++++

'Zig'
++++++***++++++
+++++++++++++++
++*++*+++*++*++
+*++*+++++*++*+

Inverted zig
++++++***++++++
+++++++++++++++
+*++*+++++*++*+
++*++*+++*++*++
