Do you get SPPs for CASing your own players?

Post by Morticus »

If you throw a bomb, and your own guys gets killed/injured in the process, does the player with the secret weapon get Casualty score (SPP) for that?

And this is a stupid question, but I have to ask.
I have read the livingrulebook pretty much, but nowhere have I seen anything about if you can/cannot block your own players. And if you could would you then get SPP for a cas?

Another thing that comes to mind then, also something I have seen no guidelines for in the livingrulebook. Can you Intercept your own passes? and if so, do you get SPPs for that and is it a turnover?

I would say both things is absurd and should not be allowed but that is just my oppinion, how is it really?

LRB pg 10
Instead of moving, a player may throw a block at an
opposing player who is in an adjacent square.
opposing player is what you want to read into this

Interceptions: LRB pg 22
One player on the opposing team may attempt to
intercept a thrown ball.
opposing team is the operative phrase here

How's that?

edit

Almost forgot the casualty question.

LRB pg 30 under SPPs
Casualties (CAS): If a player kills, seriously injures, or
badly hurts an opposing player then they earn 2 Star
opposing player comes back in this one too.

Keep them coming. I just learned to cut and paste from the PDF so I don't mind looking this stuff up. :P

Thank you for the fast and accurate reply snot.

I see what you want to say, the LRB says what you are allowed to do, and leaves the rest out of it, ie specifications on what you are not allowed to do.

Keep em comming you said. Ok. Here's another one. This one is about penalties on secret weapons. I have a little disagreement with a friend of mine in the league I am playing in.

I interpret the text (LRB 29) that the roll to see if the secret weapon is allowed to play is rolled after a TD is made or the end of a half, that it is only after those the opposing coach may (can) roll for penalty.

My friend interpret the text as a clarification, and that the penalty roll is also made first thing in the game, ie the roll is being made before every kick-off.

So how is it, do you have to roll for penalty before the first turn is even made, or not?

No, you don't roll it at the beginnning of the game. This is about all I can see about it.
Note that you must make a Penalty roll for a secret
weapon if the player carrying it has been on the field,
even if he doesn’t actually use the weapon. In addition, if
a Star Player armed with a secret weapon is used then
he must take his secret weapon with him – you can’t say
that he has decided to leave the weapon in the Dugout
in order to avoid the Penalty roll.
It's the last paragraph on that page. What this says to me is that the player has to take the pitch to be called for it. If he's in the dugout, no penalty roll is made. You've already noted that you roll for the penalty after a TD has been scored or the half ends. The start of the game simply isn't one of these two instances. It's not made before every kick-off but after one of these two things happens. That just happens to be right before another kick-off. You don't set your players up first then roll and, if he gets ejected, play the drive with 11 players do you? No. That would be silly.

So, to sum it up, he's getting ejected at the end of the drive, not the beginning of the next. The rules could be a little more clear here but they don't do to bad a job at trying to get the point across. I hope that helps.

You don't get any SPPs for casualties caused by bombs - your own or your opponents players.

Its only blocking that gets casualty SPPs.

The end-zone “line of death” does not discriminate when one tempts fate by using a “go for it” to pass over it.

It doesn't seem to work with the text selector...

Also, I can't select text from just one column, but have to select both for some reason, the text of the second column being pasted beneath the text of the first...

OK, I replied too soon...

If you click on the text selector longer you can select a text "block" selector which youcan use to select a block of text for instance from one column, and a picture selector, which you can use to select pictures...
