AGEING RESULTS & Niggling Injury

Post by Deneb »

Hi All,

If the player had an "Gain Niggling Injury" on a Ageing Result.

Does he miss the next match as well?

Thanks,

Deneb

off the top of my head, and I am possibly wrong, the only time you miss a match is after a serious injury

Or after you roll a 1 when rolling niggling injuries... Oh, but that's a pre-match event...

Probably he will miss next match.... I allways fail a player's first NI roll... just to remember what this is..!....

depends entirley on your luck, as an elf player i am awfully good at rolling 1's with niggling injuries!

But, no he doesn' t automatically miss the next match like when you gain a niggling injury through an on field SI.

Hi all,

sorry to come back on it:
but to be sure with you.

from the LRB 2.0

pg 39 :
Niggling Injury:
Miss next game as above. In addition, write an ‘N’ in the Injuries box on the team roster. Before each match you must roll one dice per Niggling Injury the player has suffered. On a roll of 1 the player must miss the match.

pg 41:
AGEING RESULTS TABLE
2-8 Gain Niggling Injury.

So you still confirm that ge doesn't miss next match?

:P
Thanks
Deneb

Yes one is aging and one is the injury table, the aging results don't mention anything about missing a game as well, while the injury table does. They are two seperate things.

But his point is good, that the only place where the term "niggling injury" is defined is in the serious injury table, and the definition includes missing the next match. If that's not the intent, then the rule needs to be changed and a new definition of niggling injury (without the miss next match part) needs to be written down somewhere.

When the term niggling injury came up, there was no idea of ageing. You couldn't get a NI without a serious injury. But now you can (and i know what i'm talking about). They should change it in the LRB.

I agree that it is not the intent to force a missed match with ageing. I certainly rule that way in my league. Once again the cutting of corners when trying to save lines of rules has caused problems. By needing to refer to the SI table on pg 39 problems arise.

A simple line in the Ageing description saying that failing an ageing roll does not automatically force the player to miss the next match would resolve the problem.

I agree with Zombie. The spirit of the rule says the ageing player does not miss a game, but the letter of the rule says otherwise.
