Kickback on Chainsaw

Quick question -

If a Player with a Chainsaw rolls kickback, then gets knocked down/stunned, does that end the drive?

We ruled that it did - though we were still iffy that it might not.

They go down, but not as a result of a block...

Any player on the moving team that is Knocked Down causes a Turnover.

page 7 in the rule book :)

We thought so, we were just a bit confused as thrown players don't cause the same unless they leave the pitch...

Thrown players are placed prone, and an armour roll is made.

Thrown players can only cause a Turnover if they are carrying the ball.
Right Stuff (Extraordinary)
A player with the Right Stuff skill can be thrown by another player from
his team who has the Throw Team-Mate skill. See the Throw Team-Mate
skill entry below for details of how the player is thrown. When a player
with this skill is thrown or fumbled and ends up in an unoccupied square,
he must make a landing roll unless he landed on another player during
the throw. A landing roll is an Agility roll with a -1 modifier for each
opposing player"s tackle zone on the square he lands in. If he passes the
roll he lands on his feet. If the landing roll is failed or he landed on
another player during the throw he is Placed Prone and must pass an
Armour roll to avoid injury. If the player is not injured during his landing
he may take an Action later this turn if he has not already done so. A
failed landing roll or landing in the crowd does not cause a turnover,
unless he was holding the ball
.

Thrown players are the exception to the rule on p7 as mentioned above to falling over, unless it causes a fumble. Always use your chainsaw player last or late in a turn whenever possible for this reason.

What? A fumbled player is still only a turnover if they held the ball.

Should have been more specific. A fumble of the ball, not the player. Those rules are covered under the throw team mate rules. In that case only a fumble of the ball causes a turn over.

so if the chainsaw kicks back but doesn't break armour it's NOT a turnover because the chainsaw player is still standing?

(seems logical but wanted to double check)

I'd agree with that.

It says so in the Chainsaw skill dexcription:
On a roll of 2 or more the chainsaw hits the opposing player, but on a roll of 1 it ‘kicks back’ and hits the wielder instead! Make an Armour roll for the player hit by the chainsaw, adding 3 to the score. If the roll beats the victim’s Armour value then the victim is Knocked Down and injured – roll on the Injury table. If the roll fails to beat the victim’s Armour value then the attack has no effect.

Note ... I really tried to make sure everyone in the rulebook either used Placed Prone or Knocked Down (note the caps). Placed Prone is never a turnover ... Knocked Down is always a turnover for your own players.
