Yeah, typos in a Kickstarter spiel is never encouraging.

I also don't understand the concept of, "Hey I want to start a business, but don't actually have the capital to do so, so can you please give me money and I'll let you have stuff at a discount later."

That doesn't exactly scream solid business plan to me. Why do you need customers to pay for your initial inventory? What are you investing in this business, besides the idea of opening a store?

That's becoming ever more common, isn't it?

Lots of bars/restaurants/breweries local to me are running Kickstarters in which you get a lifetime discount and other perks (invitations to annual events, a personalized glass behind the bar) for funding their start-up.
