Old GW Teams return to GW store from 8th for one week

Post by MagicElmo »

Didn't see anyone posting this yet:

Could be a good opportunity to get these now.
I can see some collectors maybe not been happy about this.

No word if only 3rd edition or 2nd edition too.

No word about scale either. I take it it'll be old scale, but what a weird move if that's true... :/

Delighted. A chance to complete a few of my 3rd ed teams (hopefully) without having to pay the silly second hand market prices.

Agreed an odd thing for GW to do though!

Money.

They probably found the moulds and thought they could earn more money from them. And by making them limited they can charge more.

What LM said, and as some of these teams/models won't be available in the new style for a while, if they want people to attend their own events (which are GW-figs only) then they need to make them available, if only briefly.

also, with the MtO program being in place for a few months now, and the new BB sales being pretty good for GW from what i understand, it really does make a lot of business sense for them to take advantage of the game's current popularity. i know that i am hoping for the full 3rd ed chaos dwarf team to make the list (though i am not holding my breath for the ENTIRE team). realistically i expect only a few minis here or there, but the image does specifically mention "classic teams."
in any case, i am looking forward to the chance of filling a gap or two in my collection.

chaos team, chaos dwarves, dark elves, horkon, and the trophy pack looks like all there will be. here's to hoping they don't charge ebay prices for these minis!

Hopefully they will not sell the team configurations shown in the images: chaos dwarves with only 4 dwarves or dark elves with only 2 blitzers... Although looking at their new teams, I wouldn't be suprised otherwise.

They probably found some old teams in a dark corner of the storage...

I can see Chaos Dwarfs been hugely popular because as of yet, I haven't seen a 3rd party miniature company been able to make some closely as nice.
I myself would be very keen to get them as long as they don't go crazy on the price (hope to be able to add two Dwarfs for sure).

If these would be the only teams they re-release, I wonder it's because the new versions of those are coming very late and as Darkson said, they want to give people the opportunity to play more teams at tournaments?

EDIT:
I'm a bit rusty, but didn't there used to be two different Bull Centaurs in 3rd edition?
Or was it one and the other was Hthark (OMG, why did I remember his name)?

the post on the official BB facebook page said that the teams posted in the warhammer community page were SOME (emphasis is my own) of the minis being added to the BB MtO run. there has been no confirmation, so don't get your hopes up, but a number of people are hoping that this means there will be more than just these minis available.

Thanks a million for the info!

Sorry one more question to you guys. So MtO means it's only limited by time and not by numbers?
So it won't be as if you don't order on the 8th early in the morning, that you could be out of luck with some teams/minis?
They will produce the amount of ordered miniatures?

I only recently returned to buy some GW stuff (only because of BB and kind of new to all this in a way).

yes, my understanding of the system is that they take orders for a specific amount of time, then once the orders are in, they produce how ever many were ordered and ship them all. if i have anything incorrect, someone please correct me.

JT-Y, who seems to have good inside info on this sort of thing, has indicated that there will be some limit to how many of each item GW will be able to produce.

I'm guessing that this may be due to the fact that the molds wear out after a certain number of casts, so it may only be cost effective for GW to cast up enough minis until the molds are used up.

So that could set an upper limit on the number of each item available. What that number may be, who knows?

I think most of the 2nd ed miniatures were available well well into 3rd edition..........which was rare as the Warhammer figs of the time were not available. So I am guessing they had the masters then, so should still have some of them now (as that was past their destruction phase).
