J. Earlice - a true star
Hi everybody,
this is my converted version of J. Earlice.
The mini is a resemblance to it`s living exemplar Jerry Rice in his days with the Oakland Raiders.
I also tried to add a little detail and therefore painted the Orcidas logo onto the shoes.
Let me know what you think of him. I also created a background, which also leans onto the history of it`s living predcessor. You can find it here: viewtopic.php?f=42&t=26141&p=669921#p669921

That's great. Not the sort of player I'd expect to be an ogre slayer, but it looks cool.

Maybe someone else killed the Ogre and he's just running over it.Gaixo wrote:That's great. Not the sort of player I'd expect to be an ogre slayer, but it looks cool.
Fantastic paint job though. Very well done.

I guess he could also be staking his claim for the post-game lunch.

Awesome paint job. About the only criticism I could make, and it is a minor one, is that the skin looks like it could use 1 last highlight, just to make it really pop. That said, sometimes it can just be the photography making it look a little flatter that it is in person.
I love the creative basing job you've given him. The armour on the ogre looks great and the blue shoulder pad helps to break up all the black armour on J Earlice.

Great job, but for a miniature and paint job with such fantastic muscle definition he seems to be suffering from a case of flat butt and a little paint clumping on his shorts. But it's still heads and shoulders above anything I can and will ever paint and does back flips over the forum average.

Re: J. Earlice - a true star
Hey guys, thanks for all the positive response and critics The buttpart was actually part of a norsemarauder and had to be redefined with some green stuff, just like the helmet. I`m not very handy with that stuff, so what appears to be thick color on the butt is actually the surface of GS which wasn`t properly flattened. But hey, I don`t want to win a Golden Demon with that, so after I lost patience, I just decided to go on.
In the long run I will paint ALL the starplayers I do in the Raiders scheme. That way an additional team will appear in my shelf after a while. Positions will be described on the front of the base.

Great looking conversion and nice painting. Can you list out the parts or show us a pre-paint pic? I recognise a goblin head and some kroot parts, but other bits are frustrating me!

Re: J. Earlice - a true star
Oof...I actually have only a few WIP-pictures, but since I got asked the same question earlier today via mail, I`ll just copy-paste my answer at the end of this post. Meanwhile, these are the WIP`s I still found:
The intention was, to catch some of this flair, which succeeded only partwise:
I mainly used spare bits. All parts are from GW.
- The head is from a fantasygoblin, where I simply carved down the nose and ears with a knife. The left hand as well is from the same goblin. The helmet was modelled with some green stuff, just as the back of his bottom.
- The bottompart itself is from a fantasy marauder.
- Body and legs are from a kroot warrior from the 40K range, where I cut off the feet and replaced them with the cut off feet from the same marauder leftovers, where the bottom was from. The skull shoulderpad is also from the marauders bix.
- Arms are leftovers from zombies, which I got from a friend.
- The catcher glove is of course from a BB-box human catcher, and the kneeprotector is also from the BB-box human team. It`s actually an elbowprotector there from a regular lineman.
All parts were vut into the proper positions and glued together after some testpositioning.

really impressive. I am not sure if I like more the conversion part or the painting job
Do you have some other conversions to show us?

Great idea, superb execution both modeling and painting...
I'm very impressed and eager to see a complete team in those colours !
