Reinventing the 2nd ed Troll (Completed 29/5-11)

Post by Slackjaw »

Hi! Decided to start a new post since this is sort of a WIP/PIP on it's own, and the last peice I need for my completed Orc team.

I started with this sad looking 2nd Ed Troll. He's thin and naked.... hmmm, not how I picture my ST5/AV9 MONSTER really...

Image

So I sent him to bootcamp, beefed up his arms, legs and chest, gave him a huge belly and some much needed armor.
Basic touchups and detailing still to come, but I'm quite pleased with him so far.

Imput would be nice!
And what color do YOU paint Troll skin? I have no idea... My team is blue and white, so none of those.
Thanks

I like it! It's a definite improvement on the original.

Could we see a better pic of the left shoulder pad? (and bigger pics would be nice:)

I believe the clickable pictures on my blog (sig) are a bit bigger. I think.

And thanks!

While I'd love to do that, his head is tucked back inbetween his shoulders, like he has no neck at all, making this pretty tricky! I'ts something I have in mind though, his hairdo is no really doing it for me either!

Cheers :)

Looks great. The style perfectly suits the orginal fig and is a definite improvement.

:o DO NOT ALTER HIM ONE BIT! :o

Excellent work Slackjaw! He's the meanest Troll I've seen in a long time. Absolutely spot on! In terms of painting... assuming he is a part of your Orc team with the blue and white strip I think he would look good with a really dark green skin tone. In the GW 'fluff' aren't the bigger, meaner, stronger Orcs a darker colour? He sure looks big n' mean! Make him dark green! :orc:

My thoughts exactly. For paint scheme...I'm thinking gray. I'm not really a fan of green trolls, sorry Zed. :)

@betterZthenDeaD: Whoa, thanks man, that made my day :)

@Lunchab1es: I _think_ I would have to agree with gray, so far, it's the top option. Since I want him looking different from all the greenies.

Ahh, desicions... and damn GS taking forever to cure...

He looks incredible - I vote for gray, too... perhaps with a teeny blue-ish tinge, like the old stone trolls.

Great looking troll, now I want one of those :P

I've got two trolls, one green and one grey. For the grey one I used space wolf grey which is a very pale grey (almost blue), I like it a lot, but my kid doesn't like it at all.

You could paint the Troll's skin in the team colors, rather than his armor. Including the stripes (a brave Gobbo used a thick paint brush on him).

Thanks for all the input guys, much appreciated (and needed)!
Ive sculpted à helmet and elbow pads, and imo, the helmet came out pretty damn nice, covering his ugly hairdo in an efficient way.

Pictures later tonight, stay tuned.
