I like the bases, they are interesting and compliment the models well. I'd not add a white stripe, but the only thing that does really bug me is the basing stops short of the edge of the base. I think they'd look great if the whole base was covered rather than a large 'splodge' of basing in the middle and black at the edges.
Oh, and painting is excellent of course, but you knew that anyway...

I think they are excellent in every way, including the bases. If somebody had told me about this colour scheme before seeing these minis I would never think it could work, but they look stunning. Top notch!

more 2.ed. elves...
Due to being ill I haven't been painting much lately. But here's 3 more elves for the team, as well as a group shot of the minis painted so far.
and here's the group-shot ... I'm still missing 7 linemen and a treeman of some kind
I know the bases aren't exactly bb-bases, but I'll stick to them as all my other bb-teams have bases like this

Incredible paint job! Teaches me that trying real hard can never beat true talent.
How did you paint the gems on Eldril's belt? That effect is just awesome...
Considering the base discussion, I'd say, that they are some of the best I've ever seen. The boulders aren't that big and I also like to add stuff like severed heads or arms on big guy's bases. I would have primed/painted them brown or green instead of black though.

Thaks for all the comments! So glad you like them
As for paints - gw paints. The brown is a mix of foundation brown, washes, bestial brown and elf flesh. orange is blazing orange (i believe it is called), washed and hightlighted
The gems are painted like gw told us to do some 15 years ago... starting with a dark red gem with the top left corner left black. Then you highlight the red to yellow/white the lower you go on the gem - and the last touch is the little white reflection dot in the black area in the upper left corner of the gem - I believe there is a tutorial in one of the new white dwarves as well, actually...
Anyway - I'm working on the linemen for this team, and as I have said earlier, they are hard to do properly... the sculpts aren't quite state of the art. I will be a happy man once they're done and looking decent

Awesome, awesome work. I wouldn't paint a stripe on the bases myself. I think the bases are really good as they are.

How did you do the grass tufts here, I think they work really well.

You can buy them they come in multiple shades and sizes. I used them, when making bayou bases for my malifaux gremlin warband. *goes downstairs in shop, picks up packet, reads off packet* The ones I used come from the army painter and are 'highland tuft'. His look very similair.

They're great! I wish I was persistent enough to get any figure finished like those. I like getting the paint started, but then getting to the finished level is a painful and often not so satisfying process.
One question: have you cut the slottabase part off and then done some drilling to get the guys on their feet or just inserted the grass stuff between there? I haven't found any decent solution for this matter.
