Project Log: Bogenhafen Buds (Medival Human Team)

Post by asperon »

Ok, after a lot of thinking about it (and some bothering of Steve B) i have decided to create a Human team that will look like a team of medival humans trying to play football/rugby. To do this i will use the four vampire thralls. I will try to aquire about 30 of these, cut them up into head, torso, legs and arms and then assemble them into a standard human team, with a little bit of greenstuff where needed. I have decided to use the head of thrall 1 for the blitzers and the plated torso for all except the catchers (who have lower av).

Well, the project is on the back burner, this is the parts already finished:

2 Blitzers and 1 Lineman

Staff (Apo anc Coach)

The team will be named Bogenhafen Buds (in a tribute to Steve) and the head coach will be Steve Foster (its a tribute team after all, right).

Sounds like you've it quite well planned!

If rules wise you're going for (regular) human team, my only suggestion would be that you might try to check other minis (always keeping the medieval theme in mind) that would add extra diversity to the team and would help identify the positionals.

30? You're building the reserves too?

Good luck and keep us updated!

No, i intend to cut them up to create multi-part pieces, to give me 16 unique players, and in the process of doing so i guess some parts will be damaged/unusable (esp the torso on the ones that the head, legs and arms come from and the head, legs and arms on the torso ones).

Anybody have any suggestions for the Ogre? I am thinking about the Mordheim one?

What about the classical Imperial Milita from Warhammer? You have multi-part, medieval-fashion models.

With the money for 30 thralls maybe you can also buy Great Swordsmen or other kits to improve positionals.

are you going with GW for tournaments?

Impact has multi-part humans already. It would save you a whole lot of cutting on your thralls. Although they would require a little bit of work to give the medieval look. Cutting up 30 guys is a heck of a lot work when parts are easily available.

The thing is, I really love Steve B's thralls, and I don't think that neither the Impact multi-part or the general WFB plastics get anywhere near these guys in the looks apartment. It might be expensive, on the other hand i am used to doing some crazy conversion work for all the miniature games that i play, so I am confident that i have the skill to pull it off.

The ogre is great!

Liking the rest of the team as well- nice theme.

You might need a little more to distinguish the blitzers/linos? Even just a dot of paint on the base.

A great looking team you have there. I admire the amount of time your spending to have a fully converted team
