Suggestions for Half-Orc minis

Post by darthnoir »

I'm trying to put together a Half-Orc team.

My first thought is to use 1st edtion Orc minis.

Attackers for the linemen
Defenders for the blockers.

Unfortunately, I can't seem to find minis I'm happy with for the Kickers and the Blitzers. I was going to try to use Phil's Gnolls, but they just don't quite blend with the 1st edition Orcs.

Does anyone have any suggestions?

Have a look through the Reaper Warlord and Dark Heaven lines. I've seen quite a few half orcs there, and some are probably suitable for bloodbowl

I really like Confrontation figs for this. They are very Orcish but have smoother body type that could make you think they were mixed.

The poses are pretty easily converted on them also.

Maybe Some Cromagnon Human figs, wouldn't that be close to Part Man Part Orc? If you can find a line that's close enough in size... slap a little Greenstuff Gear on them and they're ready to hit the pitch. :D

Wouldn't the Lord of the Rings Orcs be perfect? Distinctly more human than Warhammer Orcs, and a definite crossbreed look to them. Shame they are a bit smaller than WH scale, but maybe the beserker orcs are suitably bigger proportioned?

Skywarp actually!

Just had a look at the LOTR range on GW online, and sadly there's not many good poses to work with...lots of them clutching weapons really close to their bodies which would be a devil to convert. The Gorbag (?) mini might work though. Still think they would be too small

What about some of the GorkaMorka plastics? They are a bit smallish as well....and you can still find them in some places (try e-bay or your nearby games shop)
