I am using the Heresy Miniature Dungeon Troll for my Underworld team. Their snow troll is basically the same model covered with hair and fur. It fits (barely) on a 40 mm recessed base, and while its arms take up more space, they are positioned at a height which cause no issue placing it next to standard GW-siezd models. Mine routinely ties up opposing lineelfs without any trouble placing the models in their squares. The only real issue is when it is prone, but that's why you should oreder Impact's prone/stunned tokens

The only time I would not recommend the Heresy Troll is when playing teams with multiple big guys, such as goblins or chaos pact, because the stance of the arms will cause issue.

I Use the Impact Snow Troll and some slightly converted Were's from the Valkyries range (converted using small amounts of GS so that they're girlies too!)

Anyone know the height of the Wargods Wendigo hunters? I was thinking of using these from Darkson Designs (35mm to the eyes, on 40mm base) but wasn't sure if they would look ST4 or ST5. What is standard height for ST5?

Just so happens I have this online from the last time I posted it on TFF for someone! ;)

As I wrote then, too, the Wendigo on the left obviously looks smaller at first glance, but that's only because he's crouching down on bent legs. Overall, the Hunters are a perfect ST4 figure, fitting nicely into the size spot between your average humanoid and most big guys.

Thanks. That picture is what made me interested in them in the first place. However, I'm trying to decide if the ones from Darkson Designs would also work. I know the height of their werewolf model and wanted to see how it compared to the Wendigos given that I really liked them. The more basic question is what is the size (mm) to the eyes of the standard big guy? If I knew that, then I'd be able to say that something between 28mm and XXmm for big guys would be perfect for ST4.

Ah, fair enough. My Wendigos are packed away right now such that they're not easily accessible for me to measure but my Ripper figure's handy -- he measures about 42mm to the eye if that helps you make a comparison using my picture.

the "rules" would dictate that S3 = 28mm to the eye, S4 = 32mm to the eye and S5 = 35mm to the eye, but with so many companies, sculptors etc out there, the variation in scale is pretty scary sometimes..

as an aside, I just noticed the Darkson "GreenMan" mini (apparently for the British army  ) - what a brilliant sculpt for a Treeman though! :o 8)

I found this figure from a game called sphere wars that I've never heard of before, but the mini is just beautiful
http://www.maelstromgames.co.uk/index.p ... dr_102_000

I mailed the distributed and their best estimate of size (it's in a blister Pack) is 50mm to shoulder and is on 40mm base. I was hoping it would fit as an ulf in a bear themed team but have a feeling this guy is in BG territory.

Anyone know the fig or the game scale?

50mm to the shoulder means it is HUGE in comparison to a normal BB figure. It would dwarf the Treemen models.

I quite like these Lionmen from Zenit Miniatures, I'm not 100% but I think they're about the right size. Resin figures though, I know that puts some people off *shrug*

http://zenitminiatures.com/shop/images/hombresleon.jpg

Here they are in a group for an approximate comparison... along with another big Blue guy that could work as a Snow Troll alongside them.

Check out this Wendigo model. I picked up a few of these recently from ebay -you can pick them up for around $2 on a good day. They're part of the heroclix range and the head and tail seem to be removable. I didn't have time to look over them too much before heading back to India, so I can't be sure of scale comparisons, but they seemed a decent ST4 size and aren't bad detail wise.

(only one left in stock, at $1.35)
