Formation of the Welsh Blood Bowl Association

Post by TheShepherd »

Formation of the Welsh Blood Bowl Association

In 2010 a group of friends based in Newport decided to form Team Wales to attend the second Blood Bowl World Cup in Amsterdam. Since then the team has built up as has Welsh Blood Bowl and with the relaunch of the game by Games Workshop the community is even bigger albeit currently spread over different clubs, individuals and groups.

At present the Team has represented Welsh Blood Bowl but the teams goals and make up have changed depending on the Captain and it is acknowledged that in its current form, this won’t fully reflect the wider community. What this means is that we need to rethink how we operate as “Welsh Blood Bowl” and it’s proposed that an Association is formed.

As a starting point the Association should be formed of 3-5 people, one of whom should be the current team Captain, who continue to develop the team but also help to develop Blood Bowl in Wales. How they do this and to what end should be something led by the community in a manor agreed on by the Association.

Anyone can stand to be on the Association and once on you can serve for an initial term of 3 years, although of course you can drop out earlier or restand once your term is up. In the first instance let’s see who wants to stand and how many are interested and then we can form the committee.

If this is something that you are interested in, if you want to have a bigger say in your Welsh Blood Bowl community or if you feel that you have more to contribute, please post here and PM David Ridley – DaPiranha to register your interest. We would like to form the association from May 1st so please register your interest as soon as possible.

Just a quick nudge. We've had some people come forward but just want to see if others are interested

I found several gaming groups in South Wales recently when promoting Foul Bowl to the masses, i bet there are many other clubs not in this area who would like to be involved and not necessarily on this forum.

I can post other ideas i have for finding more Welsh Coaches if you think that would be helpful.

There will be as yet not signed to the NAF but regular league players attending Foul Bowl this year, which was always the idea behind the tournament, so hope some more Team Wales will support the tournament this year and take opportunity to talk to new faces.

Good luck

There's a Firestorm Games in Newport also, in Tescos at Spytty Retail Park, the manager there was on about getting a league running on a Wednesday night, not sure if it kicked off but might be worth checking.

Also as DaPiranha mentioned there is a league starting in the next week or so in Firestorm Games Cardiff.

As for local Gaming Clubs there are a few others in the area I know of...

Crow Valley Crusaders http://www.crowvalleycrusaders.co.uk/forums/index.php They meet in a scout hut in Cwmbran, its a little out the way from town but if your driving its not too far from Newport, friendly bunch there and parking.

The Great Escapism Games Club These guys meet in a Church near the Newport Cenotaph called The Church of Christ, ask to join their facebook page here https://www.facebook.com/groups/522808897739975/

Newport Gaming Club These guys meet in a pub called the Pen and Wig on Stow Hill Newport, ask to join their facebook page here https://www.facebook.com/groups/409433715867405/

There are a few other clubs i know of further a field, Penarth & District Wargames Society Wales http://www.penarthwargames.co.uk/

Gwent Reavers Tabletop Gaming Club in Abertillery https://www.facebook.com/groups/111325875594371/

Castle Gamers in Bridgend http://www.castlegamers.co.uk/

Swansea Wargamers club http://swanseawargamesclub.webs.com/
Also Independent retailer in Swansea https://thegamersemporium.co.uk/

Chepstow did have a club not sure if its still running, called The Hobbits Hole i think.

There may be more but there are plenty of games going on in South Wales, not sure about Mid or North Wales

Hey guys, why not get these groups up on theendzone.co? It's awesome. And using the finder you can stick the leagues and tournaments on a map, plus have a private group for the WBBA to chat on all you like!

With regards
