DG has a point with Darkies and High elves, my view is that mass AV8 on an AG4 team is a bit of a crutch. Not gamebreaking and is countered to an extent at the start by the high cost of the team.
Dwarves on the other hand :pissed:

Yea, welcome to the forums! Don't mind Digger and Heff, as their impressive post counts are largely due to their relentless derails to bitch about Elves and/or Dwarves.

I think it's meant to be one-quarter "playfully venting frustration" and three-quarters "cute lovable schtick," and I guess that's how most of us read their posts. While, that might be a bit of misnomer, since I don't really "read" their posts anymore rather than just jump over them because I've seen it over and over.

And again, welcome to TFF!

They usually do when I play 'em!

I actually think ogres or flings are great teams to learn tactical awareness with. They stop you taking risks, which is a good thing.

Is it not that anything with AG4 (Slann Catcher / Skaven Gutter Runners) is automatically classed as a Timmy team

Clearly if you have a sound argument for why those rosters are overpowered and/or a passionate hatred for those rosters, then they are your Timmy rosters. It clearly comes down to personal preference. See, for my money, the Undead roster is a Timmy roster. Yes, no AG4, no multiskill monsters and you can't save ghouls, but you don't have to spend to replace linemen 'cos of free zombies from Mummy and Wight induced deaths, 2 big guys without negatrait and good stats throughout team. But that's just my opinion.

Also, given the fluff of this game (i.e. Reikland Reavers are the best team), shouldn't the human team be Timmy? Or should we start a new thread for that, given that this is getting more off topic with every post? (My bad! )

As has been said DG and Heff have a dislike of certain rosters that most TFF denizens would regard as irrational, including me. Nice blokes otherwise though, so on balance it isn't an issue and mostly adds colour to the forums.

Trying to rationalise their arguments will only waste your time!

Quit crying Heff!

I beat Dwarfs today with Necro (Digger, you too take notice), so it's totally doable. The bearded gits are just too slow to compensate if anything goes wrong, or if they are stymied in their grind, or if you a couple of TZ on their ballcarrier.

Your team is coming along nicely DC. Any thoughts of adding a WE or a runner to the roster soon? Good luck in your league!

@Heff: Having read the posts you directed me to, I have to say my instant reaction was rant rather than rational argument. There were well argued (and valid) points made in your posts, but my mind remembered the use of "ginger tw*ts" and the insult to the dwarf player's parentage more. The inclusion of these phrases are indications of fury and anger, emotions which do not (typically) lead to rational or sane thoughts, thereby de-valuing your argument and allowing people to dismiss it as a rant / madman's raving. I have never read a scientific paper de-bunking another paper's findings which ends with "you lying [rude word of choice]," (as much as the author may have wanted / been justified to) for this reason.

Rant and raves can be dismissed as the thoughts of a madman, arguments have to be argued.

If you do feel the need to include an insulting word, fall back on your archaic olde English which people don't understand, e.g. quim, nethra yayeh, fud etc. Berk and Twit are surprisingly good as they now mean fool, but in their original meaning were something else entirely.

KISSES!

(See? Now everyone thinks I'm a completely insane, devaluing my argument completely. Game, set, match. 8) )

plan is play 12 or 13 elf roster with 2 WE's, not sure about the runners though. Think that adding 2 WE's and 1+ runners may lower the armor of the team too much.

Thank you :)

Of course it was a rant. That was rather the point.

I would disagree here. Ogres just suck, and you can't really learn anything from them, if you are playing against anyone half decent you stand almost zero chance. Your only hope is amazingly one sided dice.

Flings on the other hand I agree to a certain extent, they can be good. But I don't agree that they stop you taking risks. Flings are all about taking big gambles at the correct time. Like half dice blocks to surf players, throw team mate use, GFIs with trees, break tackling in to cages with trees, picking the ball up in multiple tackle zones and so on and so on. Flings rule - https://fumbbl.com/p/team?team_id=735585

One of the better teams for learning tactical awareness with is probably dwarves at low TV (sorry heff :P ) before they are all guarded and MB'd up when they can be pretty filthy. playing with rookie dwarves can be very tough against an opponent that knows what they are doing, because they are sooo damn slow which later on isn't an issue when they have loads of guard. But at rookie level people can just stick a line of players in front of the dwarves and it can be very tough to break the defence down. Another good team is probably pro elves. They lose players quick but scoring is easy, however scoring in turn 8 with them is a lot tougher than scoring in 2 or 3 turns. Successfully running pro elves winning games 1-0 or 2-1 is a good challenge but once you have the know how they are an amazing race. finally humans are also excellent for learning with, as they specialise in nothing, but you have the ability to out run slow bash teams and out bash agile teams early on, but either way good positional play is of the utmost importance.
