I do not rant. I merely express myself clearly.

I can’t believe the attitude of some of you, playing games with little metal or plastic men is Serious Business! There is a big difference between playing with your mates at your local club and turning up to a pick up game or tournament with a stranger. The great thing about wargames is you can change the rules as much as you want to suit your league, heck it’s even in the rules that the commissioner’s word is law. If the same team is used throughout the league then you’ll get used to it and as long as the model use is kept consistent (Iron man is always a blocker whilst Mickey Mouse is a catcher) then it wouldn’t be too bad. But against a stranger in a 1 off game you are inconveniencing them and so can gain a tactical advantage from that. If it’s a tournament then it’s even worse as often you have already played 2-3 games that day and had heavy nights so it’s hard enough to keep track with normal models.

This came to me on a diff thread/diff topic but seems fitting to ask here:
Would it be legal/allowed to make a halfling team made of (fresh) chicken mcnuggets if you allowed your opponent to eat what they kill?

Im sure Heff would at least enjoy playing against Dwarf bean teams I think alot of the problem with these "alternative" teams is that many of us become painting snobs. Im not a fan of painting, but it bugs the beejeezus out of me when my mates decide to use unpainted stuff in our games. Far from a great painter, i still make the effort to produce a team/army that i am proud of. If it aint ready i just dont use it, as it makes me more determined to finish stuff. Rightly or wrongly, i couldnt picture myself playing versus a lego BB team. Cost isnt an issue as Lego teams cost more than teams on Ebay many as i write this are going for as little as a tenner. Has anyone just said "its just coz i prefer lego teams" ? Odd innit?

I frequently judge tournaments for Privateer press, so have some experience in model rules and alternatives.
Whilst I absolutely agree that in a tournament setting miniatures that don't look as you would expect can be confusing. In warmachine and hordes tournaments, alternative models are generally for the reason of identification. Every player knows what they expect a certain model to look like and the 'wrong' model can cause confusion. In a pressurised environment this causes a problem.
However, if you look at bloodbowl I think it differs. There are teams out there such as the black scorpion teams that are difficult to tell the positionals apart. I think that if you are looking for clarity, then you may as well ban all non gw teams. Because then everyone knows what to expect right?
However this would be rather boring, and take a lot away from this game IMO.
I think that as long as the figures are identifiable (which the Lego team clearly are) then there shouldn't be a problem.

mate of mine came up to me in Dark Sphere today and said
I will come to your club to play cos I have found great figures to use. He proceeded to produce a flier of lego figures.
People the rant that resulted drew the attention of the whole shop, you know I don't regret one part of it.

Hey guys, new here. Just thought I'd say that if anyone tried to bring Lego figs to my league (the mighty SBL) they would be laughed out of the door. No chance.

Im still interested to hear why people would PREFER to play BB with lego for £50+ than buy a pre painted team on ebay for £30? I can understand folk not wanting to paint (struggle myself), but spending more money on lego than buying pre painted figs is just weird.
