Gaixo wrote: Does the fact that Cyanide's Dungeonbowl is still using Jervis' rules and rosters from 10 years ago discredit these rumors? Or is GW dastardly enough to allow their partners to produce a PC game that will be obsolete within a couple of months? Exactly this. So, if there is a DungeonBowl box, I suspect it will use the same old rules maybe with a minor tweak here and there (a la Space Hulk). Honestly, I've never cared for DB based on my understanding of the rules. Seems way too luck-based with things like traps and who actually finds the ball, plus looks like a lot of bottlenecks where play can get totally bogged down. Sure, sure -- BB has its fair share of luck, but there just seems like so much more you can do to manage your risks and rewards. If they're going to do a boxed set which has a Dungeon's worth of tiles and "4 Teams' Worth of Minis", I think they'd be more likely to re-release Warhammer Quest or Tyranid Attack before DungeonBowl. DungeonBowl is really only going to appeal to a niche market of gamers who already like the idea of Fantasy Football. And I know other players who, like me, love BB and don't care for DB. So I think DB would flop as hard as Dread Fleet did (appealed to only a subset of people who already liked Fantasy Naval Combat (Man O War), for the most part). And certainly after the dull reception of DreadFleet (still available discounted at various online retailers and FLGSs), GW has got to be a bit more hesitant as they realize that not every little one-off boxed set is going to be another Space Hulk for them. Warhammer Quest::Space Hulk as DungeonBowl::DreadFleet heck, even BloodBowl::Space Hulk as DungeonBowl::DreadFleet And I have to believe GW realizes that.

Based on both space hulk and dreadfleet they certainly wouldn’t use a few cobbled together articles from white dwarf along with existing rules. Both those boxed sets had really beautifully laid out books with some great unique illustrations.
As those were 1 shot deals it would need to be a self contained set with all the rules and models you need to play, just like a normal board game. They might totally change the rules and bring in a bunch of random cards like they did for dreadfleet. Had they made it Man O War 2 then I think it would have done better and earnt them some goodwill with vets too.
I think Gaixo may be right that cyanide doing dungeonbowl kills the chances of it being a boxed set as those rules are a complete mess. We were told that there wouldn’t be a lrb7 due to not wanting to force Cyanide to have to change their game so I can see the same being true for this.
Maybe we will get SkullBowl, bring back the old astrogranite made purely from skulls with a skull as the ball and players with skull decorated armour.

Just wanted to throw some fuel on the fire.
Tom Vasel (of The Dicetower fame) who is the news editor for Game Salute let drop on a podcast he was a guest on that he has "heard from sources" that blood bowl is going to be reprinted with the Space Hulk deluxe treatment.
He didn't note what those sources were (and could have just been rumblings from the internet like we see at this very forum) but he isn't the type to say something IS HAPPENING on just rumblings and I would guess that he does have a source.
However, I should note that he did say that he hasn't posted this news officially on game salute because he can't verify any of the source information.
Knowing what I do about his track record though I would say this is a positive tick in the "going to happen" column.

They will have a problem changing the rules from LRB6 as it screws the IP and the Cyanide contract. I supect that GW and Cyanide have as part of the deal for the PC games that the rules will not be changed until all expansions of BB are done incl Dungeonbowl etc. This is due to Cyanide being really mugged off if GW suddenly made their game obsolete. If there isn't a clause like that somewhere I will eat my dwarf BB team!
I think you'll get a nice hard copy of the LRB6/CRP with all the fluff pics and tables. You won't see the Plasmoid narrow tiers or rule changes.

Cyanide is also a vehicle that drags some of those "regular folk" into buying miniatures. I've met a few people at tourneys now who say they got started by playing the computer game and made the transition to tabletop.

I hadn't played BB since the 90s, so out of nostalgia I bought the pc game when it was on a Steam sale. Played it, liked it enough that it got me interested in trying for some TT action. We're nearly done on our 6th season of FLUFF now... Some people may not like the Cyanide game but it does help Blood Bowl in general and got at least 16 customers for the tabletop version just in my little city.

And for that reason of getting peeps interested.in the table top game. The pc version has justified its existence. But I do prefer the tabletop version. The banter, waiting for the dice to settle on a crucial roll. Love it.
