We would no doubt all rush out and buy 2+ copies. Then discover the rules are different, there are only 4 official teams, 2 of them new multi race teams, the pitch is a new size, the NAF is finished by GW for sticking with the old rules, the tourny scene collapses and we can't sell the models to anyone as the people who would have bought them are likewise flogging everything.

I'm selling all my stuff now! Doom, doom is upon us!

It is just a copy and paste job.So you may still want to see the orginal. It is of the 2012 Gw release schedule. No big deal but this guy is usually right.I wonder what teams?Perhaps the mix race teams or Slann probably not as good as the Greebo Frogs.

I’d take all of that thread with a massive dose of salt.

The way GW have been clamping down on leaks recently means you really can’t tell what is coming more than a few weeks in advance at best. Nids and Necrons were supposed to be out in Feb and it ended up being LOTR stuff, was quite funny to hear all the 40K fanbois cry on Dakka about it.

Ever since Space Hulk came out we have been hearing about other mystery boxes and it was supposed to be BB last year according to some. I’m sure if it is not BB this year then we will have the same rumours about September 2013, 14 and 15.

All that being said I do hope it is true as 4 new plastic teams would be outstanding. Even if GW did something stupid and completely change the rules I’d still buy a couple of boxes for the minis alone.

Assuming it's true, it'd be a great idea for GW. After the (relatively) abysmal failure of Dreadfleet (lots of clearance copies available at online stores; GW "threatening" that it would be the "last time to order, get your copy now!" and so forth), I suspect GW will be making sure the next Special Box release is something with some recognition power and following. Why not go with one of the highest-rated games over at BoardGameGeek, especially given the general boom of boardgames now coupled with Cyanide's game and now FFG's Blood Bowl Team Manager (another very well received game amongst the board game community)?

The reason I think it's actually somewhat likely for a BB Reprint is because, in addition to wanting the "fast cash" it will likely generate for them, it's about the only way they'll have any hope of ever moving the presumably huge pile of pewter team boxes and blisters they have in their stock piles. At this point, remaining GW stock is only likely to be bought by new BB players, and the best way for GW to get lots of new players quickly interested in the game is through a high-quality special edition reprint, which many veterans will likely buy if it includes a lovely new board and dugouts, great new plastic teams (4? I have my doubts; I'd be happy with two as long as each team has a full compliment of positional players or if they were Slann and Pact (since Creepers could easily exist with minis from other teams' ranges)), and some fun plastic "extras" like BloodWeiser distributors, a ref, a wizard, and the like.

I'll believe it when I actually see a GW Announcement on it, but I think I'd be a lot less surprised if it happened than most others. Just, for the love of Nuffle, don't let them do anything to the rules beyond adding a nice printed book of LRB6/CRP to the box. Honestly, though, I really doubt GW would alter the rules without another BBRC oversight. Doing so would pretty much ensure a massive gamer rage from the current BB community and would likely result in another Dreadfleet-esque plop, since it seemed to be some pretty negative reviews of the rules and mechanics that "sank" that game right as it left the dock. When you've got one of the highest-rated "Ameritrash" games on boardgamegeek, you don't tinker with the rules. And I think EVEN GW would realize that.

I have it from reliable sources (who will remain nameless) that old metal models from lines not touched in years (read: blood bowl minis) were melted and the metal used for other minis.

Read Space Marines.

But that's not really a secret, seeing as they told this to Lycos a few years ago.

I lack your confidence young jedi.

Look at spacehulk, a few rules tweaks thrown in there and well recieved. How could Jervis or someone else resist making a few changes to better capture the nutty nature of the game - so a little more random as thats often suited to one off games than sustained enironments. Or just buffing those poorly performing teams like humans. Hell, maybe they want the xbox blood bowl approach :) But really, if I were them and looking at the range of competitors out there for BB products, releasing such a set would be a good way of clearing the existing stock in a limited line offer and get out of it for a while after generating some big sales.

Still, what would be the four teams?
Would you promote GW lines?
Would you make them for the teams with the lowest stock levels?
Would you pick iconic ones (please not another human team)?
Would you go for a range of team styles? (So bash, agility, hybrid, speed - say Dwarfs, Wood Elves, Undead, Skaven.)

(Posting on the basis the rumours might be true - if I'm honest, I think they're not.)

Undead and Skaven - I can see them (or maybe Necromantic).

I'd say an elf team, but which of the 4 I wouldn't like to guess.

I think Chaos more than Dwarf, if only because Chaos has more "cool" factor amongst the GW fanbois.

But it wpould depend on whether they want to make entirely new scuplts, stuff that can be added (and therefore bought at a later date) to the WFB range, or just conversions of the range that's already out there.

If it's new stuff, I hope they make it Fantasy Football themed and dynamically posed, rather than the 3rd ed look "I've just walked off a battlefield, and now I'll do a little dance").

The rumours I saw earlier (and these just seem to be a rehash) said that it would be a team of individual players.

So just like in space hulk each would have their own character and be sculpted in a single dynamic pose. Whilst this would look cool on the table it would be more limiting and make it much harder to convert the players.

My ideal outcome would be 4 teams of plastic multipart kits, that way you could more easily mix them with other kits and could probably make about half the teams with a little imagination.

I suspect that if we do get a boxed set it will be a 1 off deluxe edition with nothing else. It may come with some fun and more random but simplified rules and have unique profiles for all the players. That way they could aim it at casual players but still direct them to the web site to find the crp (and hopefully buy some models while they were at it) if they wanted to play the proper version.

I doubt we would get anything more than that really, specialist games stuff just does not sell as well as the core games so they will not want to take up shelf space with Bloodbowl models that could be devoted to marines.
