Hello TalkBloodBowlites.

This is my first post and it is with the intention of finding out where the heck all the Calgary BB leagues have gone to.

I realize that we had the now defunct ABBA(as far ass I can discern from posts) but has anything risen to take it's place?

I'm not too sure about Calgary I know there are a guy from Red deer on here (Colin), Have you thought about coming out to the Spike! Major tournament in Vancouver (Surrey) it a great time and will let you meet some other coaches from far and wide.S.

I am aware of that tournament.

Unfortunately, for this year at least, I'm a poor starving student who spent his savings from the last years on a trip to asia.

maybe next summer when I have a full time job.

For those reasons, and for my fascination with league play in BB, I'm looking for something local.

Haven't heard of anything happening in Calgary since AbBBA went under. You could try asking around at the Sentry Box (assuming the store is still around, but it's been around for ages). Don't know what else you could do. You could also try joining the NAF, they have a coach locater on their forum (don't know if there are any Calgary coaches who frequent the NAF site either). BB was flourishing in Alberta during the mid to late 2000's, now there doesn't seem to be much of it being played (things have pretty much died here in Red Deer too).
Hopefully you can find a league in Calgary, or at least enough interested people to start your own.

Yeah I'm interested in finding some coaches. I'm in the process of building my own pitch and custom templates etc so playing is difficult. I have a couple of guys who have expressed interest but have no teams or pitches. Sentry Box has been mentioned but you can also try Myth games in the NE, they have lots of hardcore gamers and can probably hook you up.

Another place to find some players is to attend Fallcon, lots of gamers there and usually a few ex ABBBA guys.

There is interest in reforming a club rumour wise, but nothing concrete.

Never heard of Myth Games before now. Will have to check them out sometime, do you know if they sell Blood Bowl stuff specifically?

Sentry Box is indeed still around Colin and going strong so far as I can tell.

Hopefully you guys can get a league going down there and if it gets enough support, maybe run an annual tourney like there was a few years ago (if you get ahold of some former AbBBA guys, maybe you could resurrect the Apocolypse tourney).

Hehe... Is it a coincidence that the 2000s is when I left?

I ran some leagues out of the Box back in the day.... a few clangers from the Sunridge GW, and a few from the ol' basement. (All pre AbBBA) I'd be really interested in following your progress... See if you accidentally gather up a few old friends!

Time I put up a post i suppose. Myself and Tom Robinson, both formerly with ABBBA, have started up a league at the Box and are going into season 2. We meet every Sunday and are running preseason play until Aug 22, when the second season will be starting. And thanks to boufs 50k bribes I will be playing the gobbs. So to those that are interested come by the box on Sundays and see what BLOC (Bloodbowl League of Calgary) is all about.

As Rob mentioned, there is a Blood Bowl League in Calgary. We're currently in our pre-season heading into the second season which starts Aug 22nd & have about 15 confirmed coaches. Coaching skill is quite varied & we welcome new & experienced coaches to the game, so feel free to either contact me for more info(e-mail in sig) or come down and see what we're about. We meet weekly at the Sentry Box (1835 10th Ave S.W.) on Sundays around 11:15 & will be there tomorrow if you happen to read this today.

Sundays are terrible for me. That's ok though because I'm probably not the only one in that boat.

If anyone else has interest in making something work at Myth, let me know. If I find a sunday with some free time I will try and make it down to the box.
