Hi all,
I was playing a game recently with a new(ish) player we were half way through the game when i noticed he was forgetting which pieces he had used as he wasn't rotating his playera after activating them. when i told him it was something i did (and many others) he said the idea had never occured to him? Now i know i have pretty much always turned my players 180° when activated or 90° for lost tackle zone, so does about 99% of the tourniment players ive met. Is this an unwritten rule? And if so what other ones are out there?

Don't be hollow in victory? Stop ruining everything? Those are two of my favourite! Roll over stunned players at the end of a turn. A lot of new guys either forget this or turn them over at the start then get confused over who was prone/stunned during their turn.

That's in the actual rules though. Surely the most important in all games and life and general is Wheaton's Law.

I've really been trying to get my leaguemates to stop turning their stunned players over at the start of the turn, but am not having much luck. It sort of defeats the purpose of the rule if you do it at the beginning.
In my league, we do half rotations for pieces that have activated, and turn them backwards if they have lost their tackle zones. I have to admit that it's a bit annoying when I am "corrected" on this at tournaments.

So is turning your players around; FAQ page 61 of the actual rule book, not in the cutdown CRP though wrote: A: Our best recommendation would be to start your turn with all your players facing towards your opponent's end zone. After taking an Action with a player either turn the player to face your end zone or one of the sidelines or place some type of marker next to them to signify that he is done for this turn.

I have to admit that it's a bit annoying when I am "corrected" on this at tournaments. The full 180 is a lot easier to discern, though, as a 90 rotation can be pretty subtle (especially for models which aren't as clearly facing one direction, whether they are looking with their neck turned or are twisting at the hip or something). Losing tackle zones is far more rare, so the 90 degree difference isn't as common (and typically it only happens to large models like Trolls, Ogres, and Kroxigors which, being larger, are far easier to discern which way they are facing clearly).

Don't gloat try and be stoical in defeat always see the funny side
Sometimes the right thing you do will not work, often the wrong thing your opponent does will
People will play dwarves, this cannot be helped, suck it up.

Within the subject of "turning players", there is another discussion of best practices.
I turn each model 180 degrees after taking an action. At the end of my turn I turn them all back so they are facing forward. Main reason is that I prefer to have it all reset for my next turn, but also it does look cooler. Especially when pics are involved!
The other method I see from people is turning 180 degrees on Turn 1, then on Turn 2, start off 'backwards' and face them forward after they each take an action. I don't prefer this method because almost every time at least one time in the game my opponent will ask me "Did he go yet" and I'll reply "It's your guy, I don't remember. This is precisely why I reset my models after each time"
The response I get from those people is generally "Yeah, but turning them back takes too long"
Isn't a few extra seconds each turn worth giving up to avoid forgetting if a player took an action or not?
Also - I think losing a tackle zone should use an actual counter of some kind, and not just a different degree of turning.

They are "players" not "toys" or "figures".
