Chaos Dwarves, Back to the future
This is the link to the GWUSMO webstore.
http://www.games-workshop.com/storefron ... 875&c=1486
If the link doesn't work for you, just go to the store, go to the archive section and click on Warhammer Troll Conversions and there should be a link to Conversion Corner Chaos Dwarf Regiment.
This is what I think real CDs should look like, dwarves that have been touched by Chaos, not some goofy hat wearing, big nosed runts with babylonian style beards. I agree fully with the concept that BB doesn't need to be linked to WFB, call it a parallel universe or whatever, so there should be total freedom in what we want teams to look like, they don't have to mirror what is or what was in WFB.
I think that CDs should be like the way they were in 2ed, just dwarves who were touched by Chaos. They had the same stats as regular dwarves, but could have mutations, if I recall correctly. I say that we take this current team with it's hobgoblin slaves and bull centaurs and call it something else (I suggest Zhargs, for lack of anything better). These guys might have originated as dwarves but have migrated away, become corrupted, etc, and have basically become a different culture. So let's treat them as such.
Norse who have gone over to the side of Chaos still look Norse-like. They didn't suddenly start to look all babyloniam. As I have said, treat the current CDs as a different race and call them by a different name (that's all that needs to be changed). The team to be called Chaos Dwarves will have the same stats as a regular dwarf team without the slayers. I would suggest allowing these slots to be taken by mutants, but some may not like this. I suppose that we could have something like slayers, let's call them berserkers and leave out the dauntless. This could be replaced by a skill dependant on what Chaos god they serve, just to add a bit of flavour. Anyway, the team would have access to physical traits on doulbles as regular Chaos team. I would also give them the ability to choose from Ogres, Trolls, or Minotaurs for BGs. The only other thing I would maybe change is calling runner a thrower (with access to passing skills that's what it actually is), why not, Chaos tends to do things a little different.
Well, is anyone with me on this, or am I completely off my rocker?

About minis: I completely agree with you: the 3rd edition chaos dwarves are really , even if I have one team... I would highly prefer the 2nd edition team minis.
About game play: I should understand what Zombie want to say... Even if I would be curious to see a BB History specialist (there are someones on this area... I especially think about one ... ... Galak ???) trying to make a 2nd edition trnaslated chaos dwarf team... just an idea

I am not suggesting that the existing team change, keep it exactly how it is except the name, they are NOT real Chaos Dwarves. They are a bunch of stunted babylonians with hobgob slaves. BTW, the team is good to play, not knocking the team at all. Just stating that CDs should look and play like real Chaos Dwarves (ie Dwarves that have been touched by the influence of Chaos, like the Chaos humans).Zombie wrote:I personally like chaos dwarves the way they are (it's even the team i play most nowadays). I don't want them to change, and i don't see the need for another dwarf team.
I don't consider the current CDs a DWARF team, so another type of dwarr team (real CDs) don't bother me. Does it bother you that there are 3 different kinds of elf teams? I doubt it.

Either high elves or dark elves could easily be removed from the game, it wouldn't change anything if you ask me. Don't get me wrong, i'm all about having more teams available, but only if they allow for something truly different.
Make your other team if you want, but keep them unofficial. I don't see the point of bringing in a new team that's almost identical to an existing one. And don't call your team chaos dwarves either. I like my chaos dwarves the way they are now. I want to keep playing this team and i want to keep calling them chaos dwarves! And even the miniatures are pretty cool once you get used to them.

I don't think so... each elven race is different.Zombie wrote:Either high elves or dark elves could easily be removed from the game, it wouldn't change anything if you ask me.
I dont like 3rd ed. CD too, I think they are the ugliest of all minis, although the team statistics aren't bad I won't play them just for this cause. I hope GW changes them soon.

Well i think the 3rd edition choas dwarf minis are the best ones that ever have been or are available, call your new lot mutant dwarfs or something but leave the current ones well alone, ive had to watch my beloved undead get all mashed up so now i can't use that team, when the rules (if they) get changed. I wish people would leave stuff that doesn't need changing well alone, bring new things in by all means but you have no reason to upset all the people who like something just because you don't.
Personally i think the idea of an ape team would be cool, with gorillas for big guys, we got rats and lizards allready, why not add more.

about Chaos dwarfs 2.ed...
The minis 2.ed are much better than the Chaosdwarfs 3.ed ( which are a little boring as i think ) if you just look the unpainted ones...
but i just tried to paint this 2.ed team... argh, i´m not happy with them. Those mask, they are wearing.... i tried to use an old colorscheme like this you can find in WD116. Painted mask are hard to recognize as masks.
anyone have a good pict of painted 2.ed CDs ?

Elves
If there are two Elf teams that should be put together then that should be the High Elves and the Wood Elves (as it was in 2nd edition).
If this is necessary although is another question

Take the current Dwarf Roster:DaFrenchCoach wrote:Galak ???) trying to make a 2nd edition trnaslated chaos dwarf team... just an idea
Delete the Troll Slayer spot.
Up the Blitzer position to 0-4.
Up the Reroll cost to 60k
Give all positions access to Physical skills in addition to what they have.
That should work.

Some free sites don't like you linking pics. I know there's a problem with geocities on the site, and coolfreepages don't allow you to link either.traveller wrote:.

I do like those conversions on the website. Then again, I also really like the Chaos Dwarves as incarnated in 6th edition Warhammer (which translated into 3rd edition BB.) The team you're describing sounds like a house rule dwarf team, not a valid one to replace Chaos Dwarves. Chaos Dwarves are unique as a team line-up, and replacing them with a team that is extremely similar to dwarves already seems kinda pointless.
