I do have a strong fondness for the 2nd edition range, some of this is down to nostalgia but I do honestly think they are better than the 3rd edition BB models.
It doesn’t help that 3rd edition came out when GW were going through a rather uninspired sculpting period with awful 1 pose plastic models. Then the fanatic team seemed to employ some very poor sculptors which produced some of GW’s worst ever models like Hubris and Jordell. They did manage to pull things back with Zara and Ramtut though.
One of the best things about the 2nd edition models is that they actually look like they play Bloodbowl. This does make it a bit harder to differentiate the positions and you usually end up basing it on the pose the model adopts rather than armour.
You would have to be careful if doing an elf or skaven team that the sculpture is good enough to go up against the GW versions. Mayeb concentrate on the teams that didn’t exist in 2nd edition (lizardmen, necros etc) or had a poor range such as undead, chaos and chaos dwarfs.

I agree, it would probably be a good idea to focus on teams that are "under"represented in the FF market -- ie teams that have few options available. So Lizardmen, Nurgle, etc.
Teams like Orcs, the Undead teams, etc. seem well represented enough in the market that sales would probably be lower, while 2nd Ed Skaven and 2nd Ed Humans, as noted above, are beloved models that are constantly making the rounds on Ebay. So any endeavor along that vein would probably need to mesh with the GW teams well enough that people could add them to their 2nd Ed GW teams they already have. But, of course, making models that close to existing teams might be seen by some as just shamelessly ripping off what already exists.

I would like them - but no-one seems able to match 2nd ed proportions and size which I really liked. 2nd edition remains my favourite range and I would love to pick up a few more in certain positions to make my existing teams a bit more varied (add an underworld team etc).
So that linked model above for example, shame about the size (looks too tall compared to 2nd) and not impressed with the big dagger.

I'd be interested in those, BUT!!! they should ahve the size of the current 2nd edition minis.
I love some of the new minis but some are WAAAAAY too big. In fact, some are so big that I wont even buy them and I know I am not alone.

I actually like 3rd edition mini's (even some of the Elf ones), but the 2nd edition range is cool as well, as long as you avoid the oven mittens on catchers!

Oven Mitts on catchers are integral to the 2nd ed feel! I'd love some more 2nd ed style teams, they're what I started playing with and hold a great deal of nostalgic warmth. But I have to echo the statement that if you do produce such a range it would be of the utmost importance to make sure they were tied to the 2nd ed scale and could be used alongside the original minis!

Agree with the above, second Ed style would be awesome at the right scale! (so much more interesting, realistic and gritty compared to 3rd Ed). Scale is all important if you are trying to make extra players for people to add to existing teams. Go on! Do it!

I agree the most important thing for me would be scale then look (there is lots of room for cleaning up models) you must also consider price the average right now is $4-$5 a fig for a larger group of 2nd ed figs

I have most 2ed minis. Think I'm missing 2 maraudef big guys and special one offs. Also the chaos all stars which I think were a bucket of conversions.

I love the second edition teams. 2nd Ed elves are my favourite of all the Blood Bowl teams that have been produced to date.

2ed is seriously FTW. I would echo what has been said before about scale, and about filling gaps in the range. As an example, I have a 2ed Delf team, but there were no Witch Elves or Assassins back then, and even using contemporary WHFB equivalents, there is a size issue. I like that they didn't look like WFHB figures with weapon snips (like 3rd ed), nor like fantasy figures in real life gridiron gear, but had their own fantasy/practical look. To summarise, I would very much like to see a range that complimented, but didn't seek to replace or directly copy the old figs.
